Wow, I got pretty behind on blogging, so here is my attempt to catch up from the past couple of weeks.
Two weekends ago we had Reagan visit for a weekend. The girls stayed pretty busy playing together. It was rainy and kind of chilly off and on, so they were mostly relegated to the house.
Grandpa and Grandma brought Treatzza Pizza when they dropped Reagan off on Friday night. And anyone remember that electronic Simon game? I used to play that with my friends!
We made pancakes for breakfast on Saturday morning.
Grandpa and Grandma dropped off one child in exchange for another and took Clara for an overnight at the lake. They came back Saturday night to have supper with us and play some games.
The girls also frosted some cupcakes that I had made. Yum!
Brynn has been doing pretty well with her chore chart and earning her money. She struggles most with making her bed each morning. And also struggles with the recycling apparently. :-)
Silly Sunday: Brynn got out my towel animal book and made some creations which actually turned out very well!
Clara and I got into the googly eyes.
Speaking of..I thought Clara looked so much like Auntie Christel in this pic.
Doing nails one afternoon last week.
Last week was art night at Centennial so Brynn and I walked down to check it out. This was one of Brynn's pieces of artwork from class.
Arm warmers! It's the latest trend. Well, maybe not, but it could be!
Sleepy Clara. hehe.
Brynn passed level three at swimming lessons last Wednesday. She wants to move straight on to level four, so I have her signed up for that to begin in another week.
This looks really terrible and probably appears worse than it is, but yes, he is basically pushing her under the water so help her go down and retrieve the ring he put under water.
Last Friday Brynn's teacher hosted an awards luncheon for her class. All the parents were invited and were welcome to eat lunch with the students in the classroom while Mrs. Smith showed a slide show of pictures from throughout the year.
Remember the Fractured Fairytales that Brynn had been working on a month or so ago? Hers was titled 'Kicking Beauty' about a princess who spontaneously kicked and couldn't stop. Mrs. Smith handed out a Newbery and Caldecott award for best story and illustration respectively.
Brynn was so excited to receive the Newbery award! Here she is accepting it in the below pic.
And more exciting still...Mrs. Smith put together a memories book for each student which included photos from the year, awards, and their descriptions of what they liked best from the year. Each student submitted a design for the cover of the book, and Mrs. Smith chose Brynn's illustration for the cover.
Mrs. Smith really did a lot of neat things with the class. I know Brynn will miss having her for a teacher.
The class also played 'Hot Cross Buns' on their recorders. Such a performance!
I had to get some closer-up pics of Brynn's awards at home...

Each kid received a 'best award,' such as most athletic, friendliest, best reader, etc as voted on by their classmates. Brynn received the best speller award.

These were hanging outside of Brynn's classroom. They were to draw a selfie picture. We picked Brynn's out right away with her missing teeth and I had recognized that shirt she drew. :-)
Dana and I headed to Willmar over Memorial Weekend to take pictures with our friend Roger at Jessica's (Roger's wife) cousin's wedding. Meanwhile, the girls stayed behind with Grandpa and Grandma at Dead Lake. They were busy fishing and having fun.
Brynn caught a big bass!
Roger and me in action at the wedding reception. He is so much taller than I am that when we were doing group wedding party shots, I was standing directly underneath him and he was shooting over the top of me. Ha.
We headed back home after we picked up the girls on Sunday. It was pretty rainy on the way home, but that gave way to a really vibrant rainbow.
Meet David, Brynn's new beta fish. She is pretty excited.
Clara loves to make a mess!
