We're moved!

It's official! We have moved into our new house. I finally got my computer up and running so I could update the blog.

We closed and moved in on Friday the 15th. I had to get aboard Brynn's bus that morning to tell Don the driver that there would be no need any longer to wait for Brynn on our corner. I could hardly make it through the conversation which I'm sure comes as no shock to anyone. I know Clara and I will miss coming out to wave at him in the mornings. I didn't feel too emotional at the end, other than that. By the time I walked out the front door on Friday morning, none of our stuff was really there anymore and I was more excited to get into the new house than I was feeling sad.

And the Friday after we moved in, I received the below text from the buyers of our house. They were just the type of people we could have hoped to love our house after we left.

We had an excellent moving crew and great help! Thanks to Holly for snapping these pics of the last load out and first load in at the new. Thankfully we were able to move all our stuff into the detached garage at the new place prior to closing. That helped immensely as I don't know how we would have coordinated it otherwise.

I still don't have a lot of pictures yet as we've been busy getting things put away and settled, of course. But, I hawked this pic from the online listing to show the front of the house. We are on a nice little cul de sac  way south Fargo. University Drive runs past our back yard in which we are on the opposite side of University across from a cemetery. I told Dana how convenient that was that we can just hop the road when the time comes. ;-)

This is the toy explosion area, I mean, toy/play area for the girls. I hope to get some type of cabinet or shelf to better organize their stuff. This is downstairs in the family room; the other side is where we have our TV and couch set up.

The back of the house faces East so I have been enjoying the pretty sunrise in the mornings. This is looking out our kitchen window.

And another one from this morning.

Sorry for the weird light reflections; these were all taken just with my cell phone. We have begun to update some things in the kitchen beginning with a couple lights and a couple appliances. Next we'll try to move on to resurfacing the cabinets somehow, updating the fridge and range and changing the blinds to curtains.

I honestly think the house could have been a heap and Dana would have bought this place just for the detached garage alone. :-) Sadly most of my pictures are taken at night! So, it's difficult to see some of the details, but this is on our deck facing the backyard/East.

Dana's mom came back this week and got several rooms painted. I will have to post some more before and after ones after I take some of the new paint. We updated Clara's room, our bedroom, a little bit in the office and the spare bedroom and then this bathroom which is downstairs. Well, I should say Holly updated them. Thanks again, Holly. It all turned out great!

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Christmas 2025/New Years 2026

Christmas gift wrapping shenanigans: Keeping Brynn company while she wraps all of our Christmas gifts. Brynn and I couldn't help but peek at the 150 Famous Poems book we gave to Clara. So many good ones. Getting into the holiday spirit at Courts Plus. Ha! Christmas eve brunch. Clara's gingerbread house contest strategy notes. Contestants were allowed 20 minutes to shop for their houses at Wal-mart. We left ourselves little time to get ready for the 3:00 Christmas eve service at our church. But, we made it and thankfully didn't have to sit in the overflow area in the chapel! It was a beautiful service. We had bit more time in between church and when we planned to leave for Tessa's, so I mixed up my eggnog and we got the car packed. Tessa's family hosted Christmas eve at their lake home. We had a great mix of people to play a game of Mind the Gap. Getting cookies ready for Santa. Clara got Dana and me up around 7:30 and we watched her open her stocking. I think Dana a...
