Christmas Vacation Days Nine through Eleven: Christmas Celebration #3

On Saturday friends of ours who were in town for their family's Christmas celebration came over for a visit. Jared is Dana's longtime friend and was best man in our wedding. It was good to see him and his family and catch up. The kids had fun together as their son is Clara's age and now her 'best friend,' she told me. :-)

Brynn realized I was taking pictures and bolted.

That night we made our way to Fergus to celebrate Uncle John's 40th birthday at Union Pizza.

We didn't waste much time opening gifts once we got to Grandpa and Grandma's.

Grandpa and Grandma had put together a scavenger hunt for the next morning which led each of the girls back to Grandpa who had an extra gift for them.

Clara did her hunt first and Brynn was surprised at the prize at the end. The girls will have some spending money for the new year!

Brynn did hers next which involved more clues.

Then Brynn held her pajama church service for us. Her sermon topic was anxiety. Clara was assistant pastor and they also sang some songs for us.

Then they had to try out the new make-up set Clara got from Auntie and Uncle.

Next up was a spa day!

We played a rousing game of spoons last night. John, Christel, Dana and I were the ones to make it to midnight.

We've just been relaxing at home today after we got back around 12:30. Brynn dug into her big Lego set and has been working diligently on that.

The girls and Dana have one more day of vacation left tomorrow!

Good to see Jared and fam. Happy bday to John! Brynn's lego set looks awesome! I will have to show Benjamin the nerf gun Uncle Dana got. Ben was already planning to bring his to your house to duel it out with him. Baha, their church service sounds fantastic, wish I could have been in attendance! Happy New Year, Froems!

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Easter + April Birthdays

The girls had Thursday, Friday and Monday off from school for the Easter break. So, Dana and I took most of the same time off (work) to match.  Always reading. 💜 Hanging out with Brynn. 💗 Dana and I went on a Costco date. We tried our hand at homemade ravioli again. I think it went a bit more smoothly compared to last time. Hubert's sister Abby stopped by for a visit. We hadn't seen her in a long time and so it was fun to have her We celebrated Dana's birthday and kicked it off with some Sandy's donuts. I don't recall what was so funny. haha. Clara's card. Birthday King Clara dyed eggs. I baked a birthday cake for Dana, messed it up getting it out of the pans, and Clara somehow cobbled it together into a masterpiece. Dana chose Lucky 13's for dinner out. On Saturday we packed up to hit up Oliver's birthday party before we went on to Dead Lake for Easter. Oliver is 9! Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...
