New Toy, Gardening & Other Miscellany

I am going to be heading down to Frederick, SD this week to meet up with one of our grower families and our customer for work. I will be taking photos of the family and hopefully getting some video and photos with our drone too. So, I had it home last week so I could try get get more familiar with it. I made it take some pics of us. :-) Daddy took the day off work on Friday to go down to a snowmobile swap meet near Princeton, MN. He brought back a surprise for the girls. It's a nice little size for Brynn to drive and it is a manual, but she was doing pretty well getting used to shifting. Clara rode with Brynn for a bit and then got into her usual duty of shoveling out dead insects from the back garage. I think we were both a bit surprised when she encountered one that was still alive. Haha. She just cracks me up. Playing hair salon together on Saturday. They did the dishes together last night after supper. And tonight agai...

First Day of School

Tuesday night was back to school night where students were supposed to come and see who their teachers were going to be for the year and check out their classrooms, bring their supplies, etc. I did get a tip from one of Brynn's friends over the weekend that teacher assignments were showing up in PowerSchool (our online school system portal). So, we did find out earlier than Tuesday. Brynn was happy to learn she had Ms. Joy as she said she was hoping for a female teacher this year.  Ms. Joy actually taught fourth grade at Brynn's school last year and my co-worker's son had her for a teacher and requested her for fifth this year, so I had heard good things about her. When we arrived to their classroom, she informed the students that they could choose their own seat. They all seemed so caught off guard. Haha. Brynn found a seat next to a couple of girls whose names she recognized. Brynn got her supplies settled and worked on a worksheet that Ms. Joy had for the...

Summer Bucket List Activity: Attend a Redhawks Game

Last night we were able to check one more activity off of our summer bucket list which was to attend a Redhawks baseball game. We had gone to one with Clara before and a few with Brynn and it's usually a pretty fun time. On our way home yesterday I was telling Clara that we were going to be going to the game and she thought it was hockey. ;-) The usually have some type of promotion of some sort each home game and last night it was dress like your favorite superhero. Brynn didn't really have anything to dress up as, so she kind of fashioned something up herself and Clara wore her Incredibles suit that she got for her birthday. Of course we had to keep the snacks coming. Brynn had Dippin' Dots. Clara shared her huge popcorn with us. Clara was petrified of Hawkeye, so it was just Brynn for the photo op. One of the players from the opposing team got steamed about something so there was a bit of a skirmish on the field for a couple of minut...

Weekends

A couple of weeks ago Dana repainted our front door. I think it looks better on the outside versus the inside, until we can get the trim around the interior painted white as well. The door was originally a hunter green on the exterior and a wood grain on the interior. Dana also repainted the window trim on the outside white and I think it was a huge improvement overall. That Sunday (which would have been not this past weekend, but the weekend before), we spent the day at Dead Lake. It was a nice hot day, perfect for being in the lake. We went to a nice swimming area that was really shallow and sandy. I think Clara was pleasantly surprised that she could touch in the area we were in. Brynn held down the tubes on the ride back to the cabin. Grandpa and Grandma wanted to have the girls for one last hurrah before school started, so we left them there for a few days. They had fun playing with a couple of the neighbor kids. Meanwhile back at hom...
