Weekends

A couple of weeks ago Dana repainted our front door. I think it looks better on the outside versus the inside, until we can get the trim around the interior painted white as well.

The door was originally a hunter green on the exterior and a wood grain on the interior. Dana also repainted the window trim on the outside white and I think it was a huge improvement overall.

That Sunday (which would have been not this past weekend, but the weekend before), we spent the day at Dead Lake. It was a nice hot day, perfect for being in the lake. We went to a nice swimming area that was really shallow and sandy.

I think Clara was pleasantly surprised that she could touch in the area we were in.

Brynn held down the tubes on the ride back to the cabin.

Grandpa and Grandma wanted to have the girls for one last hurrah before school started, so we left them there for a few days. They had fun playing with a couple of the neighbor kids.

Meanwhile back at home I was studying up to take my unmanned aircraft pilot's test. We purchased a drone at work and I needed to be licensed to operate it commercially. Thankfully I passed on my first try. Woo hoo! Now, I just need to get the hang of actually operating the thing!

Last weekend we enjoyed a visit to Uncle John and Auntie Christel's house. The girls love to go visit there to play with the cats and swim in the pool...and, of course, to spend time with auntie and uncle. :-)

I was surprised when Clara just took off on her own in the pool and started paddling along.

Of course being the clumsy one that she is, she landed herself a big goose egg on a slip inside the house. She was getting some TLC from Grandpa and nursing it with an ice pack.

Christel has done a lot with family history and genealogy, especially for 4-H projects. Brynn has gotten interested in it as well and had a good time looking through what auntie has put together over the years.

Brynn made a little play area for the kitties.

Back home we played a game of Monopoly which I sadly lost.

I love your swim cover up! Where did you get it? Looks like fun times! Genealogy stuff is so interesting to go through.

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Easter + April Birthdays

The girls had Thursday, Friday and Monday off from school for the Easter break. So, Dana and I took most of the same time off (work) to match.  Always reading. 💜 Hanging out with Brynn. 💗 Dana and I went on a Costco date. We tried our hand at homemade ravioli again. I think it went a bit more smoothly compared to last time. Hubert's sister Abby stopped by for a visit. We hadn't seen her in a long time and so it was fun to have her We celebrated Dana's birthday and kicked it off with some Sandy's donuts. I don't recall what was so funny. haha. Clara's card. Birthday King Clara dyed eggs. I baked a birthday cake for Dana, messed it up getting it out of the pans, and Clara somehow cobbled it together into a masterpiece. Dana chose Lucky 13's for dinner out. On Saturday we packed up to hit up Oliver's birthday party before we went on to Dead Lake for Easter. Oliver is 9! Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...
