Friends + Pumpkins

Every other week Clara's art class has the option to gather on Zoom, so this past Thursday we logged on with a few other kids from her class. It was about as hilarious as you'd imagine watching six Kindergartners on Zoom together. Ha! At one point, one kid was upside down. Clara thought it was really fun.

This Halloween window cling summed up how I felt about our first snowfall this past weekend. It's all gone already now though.

Saturday Brynn headed to her friend's house for an overnight stay. It never fails that if one of the girls has plans with a friend, the other thinks that automatically she should be doing something with a friend also. So, Clara was lamenting about having Adria over as well. Turns out she was unavailable and Clara had been wanting her old preschool buddy, Cade, to come play for quite a while now, so we checked if he was available. Thankfully he was and seemed just as excited as Clara to come over.

Right away, he asked if we had any games and soon they came upstairs with Toilet Trouble, one of Clara's favs. I went a little overboard with the pics, but it was pretty funny watching their reactions during the game.

After that they made some creations in the Easy Bake Oven.

Buddies!
(Cade turned six in mid-September, so they really are pretty close in age. They stood back to back so they could see who was taller, and surprisingly, Clara was just slightly so).

It was so great that Cade was finally able to come over. They did seem to have a really good time together. Cade has two older sisters, so he didn't seem to mind that we had all 'girl toys' or anything. Clara told his mom when she came to pick him up that he was a crazy boy. Ha. He was a bit more rambunctious and loud than what we're used to around here.

This afternoon we carved the pumpkins the girls got at the pumpkin patch last weekend. Brynn went with a Harry Potter theme, to no one's surprise, and Clara went the classic jack-o-lantern route with Dad assisting with his oscillating saw.

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Christmas 2025/New Years 2026

Christmas gift wrapping shenanigans: Keeping Brynn company while she wraps all of our Christmas gifts. Brynn and I couldn't help but peek at the 150 Famous Poems book we gave to Clara. So many good ones. Getting into the holiday spirit at Courts Plus. Ha! Christmas eve brunch. Clara's gingerbread house contest strategy notes. Contestants were allowed 20 minutes to shop for their houses at Wal-mart. We left ourselves little time to get ready for the 3:00 Christmas eve service at our church. But, we made it and thankfully didn't have to sit in the overflow area in the chapel! It was a beautiful service. We had bit more time in between church and when we planned to leave for Tessa's, so I mixed up my eggnog and we got the car packed. Tessa's family hosted Christmas eve at their lake home. We had a great mix of people to play a game of Mind the Gap. Getting cookies ready for Santa. Clara got Dana and me up around 7:30 and we watched her open her stocking. I think Dana a...
