Clara's 7th Birthday

Happy 7th birthday to Clara Rae!

I was able to catch her waking up before I headed to work on Monday and she told me she was ready to be 7!

She was at a day camp (Camp Koda) at the YMCA all week and they caught wind that it was her birthday on Monday and rustled up some cupcakes to have for snack in the afternoon. And I think she said they sang happy birthday to her twice.

We celebrated with her choice of dinner at home. She chose Spicy Pie pizza and asked to have a living room picnic while watching TV.

Turning seven was off to a good start!

Thank you to everyone who FaceTimed, talked to her on the phone and wished her a happy birthday!

She chose a soccer-themed birthday party which we had at home yesterday. We had fun celebrating with friends and family. She got so many nice gifts.

It was a nice day out and I thought we'd be outside more, but I think some did get in on a game of soccer with Clara's new goals that we gave her. And Ollie was four-wheelin.

Auntie Christel stayed the night and so we introduced her and the girls to our fav new Mexican restaurant, Plaza Azteca.

Brynn ordered the chimichanga, but said it wasn't quite up to par with Shelly's. It was still pretty tasty though.

Ready for bed in her new jammies after a fun day of partying.

Adria was able to come over and play today. They're about to go swimming in our bath tub next. 😀

Dana's meal at Plaza Azteca is something!

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Christmas 2025/New Years 2026

Christmas gift wrapping shenanigans: Keeping Brynn company while she wraps all of our Christmas gifts. Brynn and I couldn't help but peek at the 150 Famous Poems book we gave to Clara. So many good ones. Getting into the holiday spirit at Courts Plus. Ha! Christmas eve brunch. Clara's gingerbread house contest strategy notes. Contestants were allowed 20 minutes to shop for their houses at Wal-mart. We left ourselves little time to get ready for the 3:00 Christmas eve service at our church. But, we made it and thankfully didn't have to sit in the overflow area in the chapel! It was a beautiful service. We had bit more time in between church and when we planned to leave for Tessa's, so I mixed up my eggnog and we got the car packed. Tessa's family hosted Christmas eve at their lake home. We had a great mix of people to play a game of Mind the Gap. Getting cookies ready for Santa. Clara got Dana and me up around 7:30 and we watched her open her stocking. I think Dana a...
