February: First Half

Last Friday night Clara and I found ourselves back at Blackbird, per her request. It was delish as usual.

Had to stop at Scoop-N-Dough (South Fargo location) for dessert afterward.

Dana and Brynn went up to a Bemidji State Beavers hockey game on Friday and came back on Saturday. I love this pic of them.

Clara was busy back in the kitchen again this past week. She was making a coffee-cake type muffin. She didn't end up caring for them very much.

On Saturday we celebrated Elise's birthday at Detroit Mountain where I skied with her and some of the other kids and Brynn tubed. Clara had a classmate's birthday party that she attended, so she stayed in Fargo with Dana. It was a super fun day.

We hit up Zorbaz for post-skiing and tubing eats.

And ended the day at Grandpa and Grandma's lake for cake. Happy birthday, Elise! We love you.

On Sunday Tessa took the girls shopping.

While Brynn was out shopping, Clara did more baking.

She tried her hand at cornbread for dinner that night. I'm not usually a very big cornbread fan, but this did turn out really good.

We had to hit up Snow Mountain for a bit in the afternoon.

I was not familiar with this 'game,' but love when the girls start doing it. I think mostly because it means they're doing something together and getting along. :-) I guess it's called Concentration. I had never seen them do it together before last week, but somehow they both knew exactly what it was and how to play it.

The girls ended up having a snow day on Friday.

We accepted a last-minute invitation from Dana's co-worker friend to attend a UND hockey game with them last night. It was my first Hawks hockey game and was really fun.

Both Kaily and Alex are UND alumni, so they took us to their old stompin' grounds after the game.

Completely random, but I noticed this Virgil Hill poster at Judy's and made Dana take my picture with it. I met Virgil Hill in person when I was in high school. If you don't know him, he's a fairly unknown boxer. :-) Haha.

Getting ready for Sunday School this morning.

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Christmas 2025/New Years 2026

Christmas gift wrapping shenanigans: Keeping Brynn company while she wraps all of our Christmas gifts. Brynn and I couldn't help but peek at the 150 Famous Poems book we gave to Clara. So many good ones. Getting into the holiday spirit at Courts Plus. Ha! Christmas eve brunch. Clara's gingerbread house contest strategy notes. Contestants were allowed 20 minutes to shop for their houses at Wal-mart. We left ourselves little time to get ready for the 3:00 Christmas eve service at our church. But, we made it and thankfully didn't have to sit in the overflow area in the chapel! It was a beautiful service. We had bit more time in between church and when we planned to leave for Tessa's, so I mixed up my eggnog and we got the car packed. Tessa's family hosted Christmas eve at their lake home. We had a great mix of people to play a game of Mind the Gap. Getting cookies ready for Santa. Clara got Dana and me up around 7:30 and we watched her open her stocking. I think Dana a...
