fifteen

Happy birthday to our Brynnie! Brynn turned 15 on the 9th.

That night we celebrated with a spaghetti dinner (her choice) at home, followed by gifts. Brooklyn took her out for Scoop-N-Dough, so we didn't eat the German chocolate cake that Brynn had made for herself.

Brynn wanted to celebrate her birthday at Kohl's again, so last weekend we headed up there with Brooklyn in tow.

We got Brooklyn sucked into Nerts.

Our cabin this time around - we were top right.

Red Stu for brunch, naturally.

After brunch, Dad and Clara hung out at Christel and John's while I took Brynn and Brooklyn to do an escape room...and they did escape in time. Very exciting. We definitely had some helpful hints, though.

After that Brynn had found some shops that she wanted to check out. This hat was a must-have for me.

Dinner at Tutto Bene (an Italian place recommended by auntie and uncle, who also joined us).

We went back to auntie and uncle's for cake after dinner.

The girls had Monday off of school, so I booked ski lessons at the nearby ski resort (and when I say near, it's only 10 minutes away from Kohl's) for Sunday as we planned to stay through the weekend.

Getting ready for skiing.

Documenting all of us, all in one piece, pre-skiing. 😎

It could not have been a nicer day - it was so warm and calm.

Brynn and Brooklyn moved on to the bigger hills while Clara stayed on the bunny hill. Once Clara was done, I was able to run her back to our cabin (Dana stayed behind and cooked a chicken for dinner) and I came back to ski some more with the girls.

The girls did great with their lessons and all three picked up on it so quickly and I think it's safe to say they've caught the skiing bug. Clara wanted to get her own skis and boots when we got home.

Dana and his delicious chicken.

The girls got these cute matching sweatshirts at one of the shops in town.

We hit up the pool area after dinner on Sunday.

We had another great stay at Kohl's celebrating Brynn. I cannot believe she's 15 now - I know I say the same thing each year. We are so proud of you, Brynn, and love you so much! 💜 Thank you to everyone who wished her a happy birthday!

Aw, yay! Happiest birthday, Brynn! And 15 years a mom, Tara. The girls were so excited to hear that Brynn & Clara were enjoying skiing! Love the matching sweatshirts. I'm glad she had a great birthday weekend :)

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Easter + April Birthdays

The girls had Thursday, Friday and Monday off from school for the Easter break. So, Dana and I took most of the same time off (work) to match.  Always reading. 💜 Hanging out with Brynn. 💗 Dana and I went on a Costco date. We tried our hand at homemade ravioli again. I think it went a bit more smoothly compared to last time. Hubert's sister Abby stopped by for a visit. We hadn't seen her in a long time and so it was fun to have her We celebrated Dana's birthday and kicked it off with some Sandy's donuts. I don't recall what was so funny. haha. Clara's card. Birthday King Clara dyed eggs. I baked a birthday cake for Dana, messed it up getting it out of the pans, and Clara somehow cobbled it together into a masterpiece. Dana chose Lucky 13's for dinner out. On Saturday we packed up to hit up Oliver's birthday party before we went on to Dead Lake for Easter. Oliver is 9! Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...
