The beginning of a new year

I feel really behind in blogging, so here is a whole recap of the first half of January, the start to a new year.

This girl does love to read! 💓

I am not typically one who loves winter, but I have been trying to appreciate the beauty of the frosty trees and big snowflakes falling.

Neighbor Barb invited Clara over for a  visit one recent afternoon....a visit and Clara's fav snacks, I should say. :-)

Scientist Brynn!

A couple of weeks ago we were able to watch Reagan at one of her wrestling tournaments in Casselton. It was so fun!

Of course Brynn and Clara had fun hanging with Elise and the Casselton Cousins. One of them even made it back home with us for a sleepover!

Visiting Snow Mountain on a nice, warm Sunday afternoon.

Freshman are getting ready to meet with their counselors at school to register for next year's classes. They just started the second semester in the past week. Brynn is bummed to leave behind her pottery class and now she has gym (which she hates), but she does have a graphic design class that I think she will really enjoy.

Dana took the girls to Play-It-Again Sports and got them updated skates and a pair for himself. I'm the spectator on the sidelines in all of this. I am a skier not a skater. :-D

We were able to find a rink that had a warming house open last night, at Brynn's old stompin' grounds: Centennial Elementary.

I think Clara likes to practice falling. :-)

The girls and I have started prayer journals in which we work on them a couple of times a week. I love seeing what they come up with and it's so interesting how we each approach ours...mine is more list form, Clara writes quotes and verses and Brynn's are very artistic drawings.

Aw, that picture of Clara in her bibs with her book is a framer :) So fun to see Clara and Prairie hangin' out. Thanks again for coming to watch Reagan! Elise has gym this semester, too, and is not a fan :P I hope Brynn gets some good classes for next year! Can't believe she'll be a sophomore!

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Christmas 2025/New Years 2026

Christmas gift wrapping shenanigans: Keeping Brynn company while she wraps all of our Christmas gifts. Brynn and I couldn't help but peek at the 150 Famous Poems book we gave to Clara. So many good ones. Getting into the holiday spirit at Courts Plus. Ha! Christmas eve brunch. Clara's gingerbread house contest strategy notes. Contestants were allowed 20 minutes to shop for their houses at Wal-mart. We left ourselves little time to get ready for the 3:00 Christmas eve service at our church. But, we made it and thankfully didn't have to sit in the overflow area in the chapel! It was a beautiful service. We had bit more time in between church and when we planned to leave for Tessa's, so I mixed up my eggnog and we got the car packed. Tessa's family hosted Christmas eve at their lake home. We had a great mix of people to play a game of Mind the Gap. Getting cookies ready for Santa. Clara got Dana and me up around 7:30 and we watched her open her stocking. I think Dana a...
