Fall Break

The girls were off of school this week on Thursday and Friday and out early on Wednesday for teacher's convention. I had taken Thursday and Friday off of work to meet up with Tessa and Elise at Fort Ransom State Park. We were set to spend the night in one of the houses on site and then do a hike the following day before heading back home.

The house was very old and completely overridden with box elders and lady bugs. I think old houses are neat, so that part was cool to me; the bugs not so much, however.

Tessa made a fun 'would you rather' game: Halloween edition, so we played that and snacked on energy bites in between collecting bugs in a soapy jar of water.

I had to send my mom a pic of me snuggled into my 30-year-old sleeping bag that we bought for me for some camping trip when I was younger. It's still going strong!

We slept in and chatted for a while in the morning before heading out

It was such a beautiful day out; we really lucked out with the weather.

We went a total of about four miles and then found a picnic table to have our sack lunches.

Thanks to Tessa for arranging everything and being our trail guide. It was super fun.

Dana got home from work late on Thursday night. He hadn't even made it into the house yet when I ambushed him and asked if we could go out on the side-by-side for a picnic dinner. We made it just in time to watch the sun set.

Tessa and the girls (plus friend, Addie) stayed with us Friday night and the teenagers took in the Taylor Swift concert/movie.

Clara had gone to Grandpa and Grandma Froemming's farm to spend some time there until she had to return to Fargo to attend her friend's birthday party on Friday night.

Clara was off again after the birthday party to stay at the other grandparents' as Oliver was there for the weekend as well.

Dana and I went out on the town downtown on Saturday night and had a fun time.

First stop was drinks and apps at Teddy's. Dana hadn't been there before, but Tessa had taken me there for my birthday a few years ago and I was happy to come back.

The weather was still really great so it was a nice night to walk around downtown to each of the places we went to.

Next stop was Pounds' new location.

We wanted to catch dinner at Old Broadway, a bar that we had gone to sometimes when we were in college. They've redone part of it to a full restaurant and it looked really nice, but they were closing about five minutes after we got there, so we moved on from that idea and ended up at the Blarney Stone.

We called it an early night and came back to these two having a later dinner (courtesy of Hubert) at home. 💓

My mom sent me this pic of their kitty, Ninja. She's so cute!

It would have been cool to actually have a photo of Dana or me (Brynn chose not to go up), but I screenshot this from one of the other services at our church that was streamed online today. We had the opportunity to re-affirm our baptisms, either by just having water poured on our forehead, or you could fully submerge in the tubs that you can see on both sides of the picture. If you hadn't been baptized yet, you could during this time today as well. It was just so emotional, and of course, I was blubbering. It  felt very special to being able to re-affirm our baptisms, but to see people - both kids and adults - getting baptized for the first time, was also so cool.

Dad and Brynn on a spur-of-the-moment post-church Starbucks date.

Clara carved her pumpkin today after she got home from the lake.

Cozy Clara reading her book this afternoon.

It was a wonderfully full fall break and it felt so good to have a couple of days off work too!

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Easter + April Birthdays

The girls had Thursday, Friday and Monday off from school for the Easter break. So, Dana and I took most of the same time off (work) to match.  Always reading. 💜 Hanging out with Brynn. 💗 Dana and I went on a Costco date. We tried our hand at homemade ravioli again. I think it went a bit more smoothly compared to last time. Hubert's sister Abby stopped by for a visit. We hadn't seen her in a long time and so it was fun to have her We celebrated Dana's birthday and kicked it off with some Sandy's donuts. I don't recall what was so funny. haha. Clara's card. Birthday King Clara dyed eggs. I baked a birthday cake for Dana, messed it up getting it out of the pans, and Clara somehow cobbled it together into a masterpiece. Dana chose Lucky 13's for dinner out. On Saturday we packed up to hit up Oliver's birthday party before we went on to Dead Lake for Easter. Oliver is 9! January + Valentine's Day + CATS!

We ARE still alive over here and have not frozen to death. Here's what we've been up to for the past month and a half! Brynn and Hubert at the OG (Olive Garden): 'Lady and the Tramp' style. haha. Taking in a Force game...with extra fighting. It was very exciting. One Sunday when Clara was at a sleepover, the three of us went to Black Coffee Waffle Bar after church and then for some crepes and boba at Tea & Crepe. Then Brynn and I went prom dress shopping which was really fun. She did find a dress she loves so that was a relief. This is not the one she chose, but she tried on quite a few nice ones. Clara made crowns for the king and I (me). Clara had to write an essay to be considered for the robotics team at school. She waited for at least a couple of weeks to learn if she was accepted, and unfortunately was not. She was pretty disappointed, but she does have a chance to reapply next year when she's a fifth grader, and won't have to write another essay. I th...
