Homecoming 2023

Settle in! I may have gone a bit overboard on Homecoming pics which was this past week/end at Brynn's school.

Brynn did most of the dress-up/spirit days and was good about sending me pics of her and Hubert and friends from school. They kind of tapered off with the pics in the latter part of the week, sadly.

Monday was jersey day.

Tuesday was comfy vs classy.

Wednesday: Country Ken vs Malibu Barbie

The football game was Friday night against another Fargo school. Eagles won!

Clara and I walked over just before halftime. It was such a beautiful night out.

Of course Clara found some kids she knew from her school.

I hawked these next few pics off of the guy who does photography for the sports teams. This was the homecoming court. Clara excitedly told me they came over to visit them at her school on Friday.

The king and queen. I was giggling at the eagle.

The homecoming dance was Saturday night at the school. Brynn went to get her nails done in the morning.

Brynn and Hubert's other friends, Clara and Lourens, were going together as couples. They all came over to hang out for the day and get ready at our house.

Brynn and Hubert made homemade pizza and coffees for lunch.

We took pics in the orchard again this year. It was so fun. The kids looked amazing!

They had a great time at the dance and left early to go eat at Applebee's before coming back to our house for the rest of the night. Brynn's feet didn't make it out unscathed though, unfortunately.

Oh man, I LOVE the pics! So great. I'm glad they all had a great time. What fun that they all got ready at your house. And holy cow, the homecoming court is huge!

P.S. Brynn looks so grown-up! Gah!

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Christmas 2025/New Years 2026

Christmas gift wrapping shenanigans: Keeping Brynn company while she wraps all of our Christmas gifts. Brynn and I couldn't help but peek at the 150 Famous Poems book we gave to Clara. So many good ones. Getting into the holiday spirit at Courts Plus. Ha! Christmas eve brunch. Clara's gingerbread house contest strategy notes. Contestants were allowed 20 minutes to shop for their houses at Wal-mart. We left ourselves little time to get ready for the 3:00 Christmas eve service at our church. But, we made it and thankfully didn't have to sit in the overflow area in the chapel! It was a beautiful service. We had bit more time in between church and when we planned to leave for Tessa's, so I mixed up my eggnog and we got the car packed. Tessa's family hosted Christmas eve at their lake home. We had a great mix of people to play a game of Mind the Gap. Getting cookies ready for Santa. Clara got Dana and me up around 7:30 and we watched her open her stocking. I think Dana a...
