Brynn's 16th Birthday

On Tuesday, Brynn celebrated her sweet sixteen birthday.

But before that, on Sunday we played Zoom Trivia: Brynn Edition! Elise put together a super fun trivia game which was all about Brynn in honor of her birthday. (I won! 😊)

I bought her a set of "16" balloons and we took a few pics with those.

She chose Kobe's for her birthday dinner which was super fun.

We had to do the regular sake and baby sake.

And tossing the veggies down the hatch. Brynn and Hubert caught theirs on the first try.

We opened cards and gifts when we got home. Dana and I are gifting her a trip that she and I will be taking, just the two of us, later this summer. She has decided on Chicago and we're both pretty excited.

Roses from Clara.

Flowers from Hubert as well...in the form of LEGO.

Brynn had completed her behind the wheel drivers ed last fall and just finished the online 'classroom' portion and was able to get her license on Friday. Yay! She picked Hubert up on Friday night and they went out to eat just the two of them for her birthday. Congrats, Brynn!

I don't know what was wrong with Dana in this pic - he is genuinely excited for her and we know she's a good driver.

This afternoon a couple of her friends and Hubert came to celebrate. She put out a snack spread and then Dana picked up Olive Garden for dinner and then we had cake.

I could write a whole essay on what an amazing daughter and awesome woman Brynn is growing to be, but I'll try to rein myself in. She makes me not miss the 'little kid' years while making my heart clench when she reminds me 'only two more years, Mom!' I'm so excited for her future and for her to realize all her dreams. I cherish our time together and am so grateful for our relationship.

We love you so much, Brynn. Happiest of birthdays, Boo. 💜

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Easter + April Birthdays

The girls had Thursday, Friday and Monday off from school for the Easter break. So, Dana and I took most of the same time off (work) to match.  Always reading. 💜 Hanging out with Brynn. 💗 Dana and I went on a Costco date. We tried our hand at homemade ravioli again. I think it went a bit more smoothly compared to last time. Hubert's sister Abby stopped by for a visit. We hadn't seen her in a long time and so it was fun to have her We celebrated Dana's birthday and kicked it off with some Sandy's donuts. I don't recall what was so funny. haha. Clara's card. Birthday King Clara dyed eggs. I baked a birthday cake for Dana, messed it up getting it out of the pans, and Clara somehow cobbled it together into a masterpiece. Dana chose Lucky 13's for dinner out. On Saturday we packed up to hit up Oliver's birthday party before we went on to Dead Lake for Easter. Oliver is 9! Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...
