Pre-Halloween: Pumpkin Patch + Pumpkin Carving + Costume Preview

Not pumpkin or Halloween related, but I had to snap another pic (or several actually) of this bookworm at it again. I love to see it. She was reading her book after she had hopped off the bus after school one afternoon last week.

Ok, on to spookier things! Fred, the meat head, ended up in our fridge. I tried to warn the fam he was in there so they wouldn't get too frightened when they opened the door. Clara and I made him up for a Halloween lunch I was putting on at my office.

On Saturday Amanda and I took the girls to the Buffalo River Pumpkin Patch. It was such a nice day out.

Clara's chosen pumpkin was too big and heavy for her to carry, so Mom had to take over.

It's looking pretty fine all carved now.

I had been trying to convince Clara to watch Gremlins with me, but she wasn't interested, so I finally watched it by myself on Sunday night. Sadly, it wasn't as good as I had remembered for some reason.

Behold: Clara the Bear!

Brynn carved her pumpkin on Tuesday night. It turned out so cute.

Fred's going crazy waiting for Halloween to arrive.

Our neighbor, Barb, brought over some cookies from Jen's Bakery. She spoils us.

As you may know 10/29 was National Cat Day. I concocted a plan to get my cat fix by celebrating at work. I had offered my co-workers could bring their cats (even better if in costume) for some trick-or-treating at the office. This is Scarlet. She was so sweet. Sadly, I only had one kitty show up, but I still think it's one of the best ideas I've ever had!

Her whiskers make it look like I have whiskers. hehe.

This is such a great post! I love how into her books Clara is. That looks like such a great pumpkin patch you guys went to. The picture of Clara & Adria in the "wanted" sign reminds me of that picture of me and Jenna with the "wanted" background. So cute. Love the carved pumpkins, and Clara's costume...ahhh hahaha! I have to show this to Oliver. He is going to love it. Kitty trick-or-treating at work was definitely a great idea! Glad you got your cat snuggles in!

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Reagan Graduation + MDW + Tennis

This past weekend our oldest niece, Reagan, graduated high school. She will be attending UND for nursing in the fall. We're so proud of you and love you so much, Reagan!   Cousin Cayden had his Italian soda bar set up at the party which was super fun and a big hit. She opened a few gifts the night before her commencement. Reagan is the third generation to graduate from Harvey High as my mom and her dad, Chad also attended there. This was such a fun gift idea that Tessa put together from her and Chad. We got back home Sunday evening and between the four of us doing different things, spent most of Memorial Day outside. It was such beautiful weather. Brynn and I played tennis and Dana and Clara replaced some shrubs and did yardwork. The tennis season has wrapped up for Brynn now. She's sad to not be playing anymore, but still gets some court time between playing with friends and sometimes Clara and/or me. We're so proud of her and glad she played again this year. I had taken s...
