Holiday Break

After Christmas was over, Clara had her friend Cora for a playdate.

Dana and I were both able to get in at the spa in the bathroom.

Clara's in that box. :) Brynn got in it as well and then exploded out of it when she had a jump scare on account of Clara's bare feet.

Busy playing with new Christmas gifts.

On the Saturday after Christmas, we celebrated with my side at Tessa and Chad's lake. It was a fun afternoon/evening of playing games, opening gifts, visiting and eating good food.

Ben let me shoot his air soft guns with him. It was so fun. Dad was assisting me...and also taking these pics. ;-)

Playing a game of Guess Who?: Family Edition. Tessa and her girls made a custom game with family members' faces, including pets! It's so cool.

Grandpa put together some games for everyone to play and we also all played Bunco.

Brynn made homemade dumplings and I made spring rolls. The dumplings turned out so good. Making dumplings was one of the activities Brynn put on the Christmas Vacation Bucket List so she got that checked off.

One of the other bucket list activities was skating so Dana and Clara went downtown for a bit before the rink closed.

We didn't do our house decorating contest this year, so the girls kind of just did some freestyle work. This was one Brynn did that also incorporated graham crackers.

We didn't make any plans for New Year's Eve so Dana and I stayed up past midnight watching 'Ted Lasso' together.

Brynn came out for about a five-minute walk with me on New Year's Day.

After she bowed out, I went on solo and saw some deers. So cute.

I've been able to fit a couple nice baths in during vacation...and trying to keep up on my reading.

Clara and I made chocolate chip banana bread.

And all of us together made homemade ravioli. The filling we used was a ricotta spinach mixture. It was so much work and took forever, but they did turn out really good at least.

Today/Friday is my last day of break. The girls and Dana were back at it yesterday.

It's been a great Christmas break! Happy New Year!

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Christmas 2025/New Years 2026

Christmas gift wrapping shenanigans: Keeping Brynn company while she wraps all of our Christmas gifts. Brynn and I couldn't help but peek at the 150 Famous Poems book we gave to Clara. So many good ones. Getting into the holiday spirit at Courts Plus. Ha! Christmas eve brunch. Clara's gingerbread house contest strategy notes. Contestants were allowed 20 minutes to shop for their houses at Wal-mart. We left ourselves little time to get ready for the 3:00 Christmas eve service at our church. But, we made it and thankfully didn't have to sit in the overflow area in the chapel! It was a beautiful service. We had bit more time in between church and when we planned to leave for Tessa's, so I mixed up my eggnog and we got the car packed. Tessa's family hosted Christmas eve at their lake home. We had a great mix of people to play a game of Mind the Gap. Getting cookies ready for Santa. Clara got Dana and me up around 7:30 and we watched her open her stocking. I think Dana a...
