Brynn started swimming lessons again at Dragon Swim School (MSUM). The last time she did lessons there, she had just turned three. Last round hadn't gone very well, as the other girl in her class fizzled out about getting into the water and participating, so then Brynn didn't want to do it either. This time, though, she assured me that she was going to participate because now she is 4 1/2! Ha. She did seem really pumped to go.
Tonight was her second time. There is only one other kid her class - a boy named Carter. It has been such a difference this time over the last time she had lessons. She did pretty much everything her teacher asked her to do, except she didn't want to put her head in/under the water. Those two just swim their little hearts out the entire time. It's so funny to watch.

This time Daddy is able to come from work to watch, too, and she likes that both of us come to watch her. When we are done, she asks me when she is coming back. (It's just once per week for 6 times). I think she thinks she'll be coming back again the next day. :-)
She and I talked about signing up on her own for gymnastics (since she won't be going with her daycare group during the day anymore) to start after swimming lessons at the end of August. I asked her if she wanted me to sign her up for swimming again after this session and then she'd be going to gymnastics one night during the week and swimming another night. We've never been involved in more than one evening activity at a time, but she was sure she wanted to do that. At least swimming is not a long session (6 weeks) and I think gymnastics is 9 weeks, so if it's too much, it won't be for long.
It is great to see her getting excited about doing things she was uncomfortable doing previously, and trying new things she would have been afraid to do before.
I love her little leg sticking up out of the water. |
The race is on to fetch the ball. |
Her tongue is out of her mouth about 85% of the time during swimming lessons. |
And the tongue again. |
