Snow Day

I guess I should have taken the hint when all the Fargo schools were closed yesterday that there likely would not be preschool then. I had Dana's truck, and needed to pick up rolls for my co-worker's birthday celebration (priorities!), so Brynn and I ventured to the church first, only to find no cars in the parking lot and locked doors. So, we continued on, picked up the rolls and headed into my office. Brynn did some cutting and coloring projects, and made a birthday picture for my co-worker. The highlight for her was eating the rolls with us for the birthday celebration. I was able to get some things organized in the office before she started repeatedly asking me when we were going home. So, around 11:00 am we wrapped it up and headed back home where we changed into jammies and made the most of our snow day.

Auntie Tessa gave me an all-things-chocolate-chip-cookie-dough cookbook for Christmas and I hadn't yet made anything from it. Brynn spotted the photo of the heart-shaped cookie dough mound and wanted to make that. So, we did. It was pretty delicious. They were egg-free, so we took advantage of that and ate it raw.

About that time Dad came home and it was a good thing our cookies were no-bake because when I did turn the oven on for supper, this is what happened. Forty dollars for a new element and today we're back in business. As you can imagine, this whole ordeal did not go unnoticed by Brynn, though.

Tonight after supper Brynn was adamant that she wanted to play outside. Dana and I thought it was too cold, so we offered she could just go out on the deck. She never lasts more than 5 minutes out there anyway it seems. Of course her snow boots usually stay at preschool during the week, so we had to improvise with my boots. :-)

Emily and Brynn. Emily happens to live very near us and goes to our church. She baby-sat Brynn at their house on Friday night while Dana and I went out to eat. They had so much fun together...well, I know Brynn did and Emily's mom told me she did too. ;-)

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Easter + April Birthdays

The girls had Thursday, Friday and Monday off from school for the Easter break. So, Dana and I took most of the same time off (work) to match.  Always reading. 💜 Hanging out with Brynn. 💗 Dana and I went on a Costco date. We tried our hand at homemade ravioli again. I think it went a bit more smoothly compared to last time. Hubert's sister Abby stopped by for a visit. We hadn't seen her in a long time and so it was fun to have her We celebrated Dana's birthday and kicked it off with some Sandy's donuts. I don't recall what was so funny. haha. Clara's card. Birthday King Clara dyed eggs. I baked a birthday cake for Dana, messed it up getting it out of the pans, and Clara somehow cobbled it together into a masterpiece. Dana chose Lucky 13's for dinner out. On Saturday we packed up to hit up Oliver's birthday party before we went on to Dead Lake for Easter. Oliver is 9! Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...
