Halloween 2013

Happy Halloween!

Unfortunately Brynn was not allowed to dress up with her costume at school, but we packed it in her backpack so she could have it to wear at Hope after school. I picked her up early from there so we could stop by my office for trick-or-treating.

Finally got some costume pics right away when we got home.

Ringing the doorbell to surprised Daddy that we were home.

On our way to my co-worker Kevin's house and Nancy's house.

We drove over to my co-worker, Kevin's house. He and his fiancee just moved close to our neighborhood.
Coincidentally, his fiance, Wendy, was a classmate of my sister's.

Nancy! Brynn said she was missing Nancy this past week and asked if we could go trick-or-treating at  her house.
She was glad to see Brynn and caught us up on all the daycare happenings.

It was a great night for trick-or-treating, and we were able to put Brynn's costume over her light jacket so at least you could see her costume.

We set out our bowl of candy for when we were gone trick-or-treating. Here are some kids I noticed at our house while we were across the street. Our bowl was pretty low by the time we returned.

Crazy Ron from a few doors down.

Looking for Rodney.

There he is!

This house had awesome decorations, but Brynn wasn't too sure of them.

We saw a lot of other kids out and about while we were and judging by how much candy was gone while were were out, I think we missed a lot of trick-or-treaters. I kept count of the ones who stopped while we were home and estimated the rest for a total of about 44, I think. A couple of kids who Brynn recognized from school stopped, so that was fun. I just love seeing all the kids running around the neighborhood with their costumes. Another great Halloween!

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Halloween 2025

Happy Halloween! We did trick-or-treating at my office again and celebrated National Cat Day a couple of days late. Unicorn making magic happen! The kids and Freddy. We got a little bit of a late start around 7:30. We went to a neighborhood near the high school where several of Clara's friends live. We stopped at Micah's house to say hi and another schoolmate happened to be over as well. We got to visiting too long and by the time we headed back out, some houses either had run out of candy (including Micah's, where they went through 600 pieces his mom said) or were already done for the night. But, we still got around to several. It had just gotten done raining and the wind was cold, so I didn't care to be out too long myself. Clara asked to have another post-Halloween party this year and Brynn planned and executed the whole thing. One of our fav parts was the missing children posters which were all the guests. Green Army Man, Clara Barton, Luna Lovegood (from Harry Pott...

Christmas 2025/New Years 2026

Christmas gift wrapping shenanigans: Keeping Brynn company while she wraps all of our Christmas gifts. Brynn and I couldn't help but peek at the 150 Famous Poems book we gave to Clara. So many good ones. Getting into the holiday spirit at Courts Plus. Ha! Christmas eve brunch. Clara's gingerbread house contest strategy notes. Contestants were allowed 20 minutes to shop for their houses at Wal-mart. We left ourselves little time to get ready for the 3:00 Christmas eve service at our church. But, we made it and thankfully didn't have to sit in the overflow area in the chapel! It was a beautiful service. We had bit more time in between church and when we planned to leave for Tessa's, so I mixed up my eggnog and we got the car packed. Tessa's family hosted Christmas eve at their lake home. We had a great mix of people to play a game of Mind the Gap. Getting cookies ready for Santa. Clara got Dana and me up around 7:30 and we watched her open her stocking. I think Dana a...
