School Update, Movies, Leaves!

School is still going really well for Brynn. When asked  how it's going, Brynn will usually respond with an enthusiastic, "great!" She is learning the difference between fiction and non-fiction, punctuation, math, and sight words. Her teacher sends little note cards home for her to cut out and practice her words, so we've been working on those at home. The other night she thought she would also write the words out. That did really seem to help her remember them better. She was really proud and wanted show Daddy. (I love the backwards 'S.' Classic! Ha!)

Brynn had a fantastic surprise this past Thursday when both sets of grandparents showed up! It was fun to have all of us together for supper. Dana's parents spent the night and Grandma Holly was able to come watch Brynn at gymnastics.

Since it was such a rainy day on Saturday, it was a good day for playing inside. Brynn took some of her piggy bank money along to Wal-mart, as she had her eye on this weird Rapunzel Play-Doh set. She is still really into Play-Doh right now. She said she really does like it and was glad she bought it.

Saturday afternoon we went to the matinee showing of 'Despicable Me 2.' We had seen the first one at home a few times. We also watched 'Hotel Transylvania' at home a couple of times this weekend. It was pretty funny and kind of fitting for the Halloween season. Brynn was skeptical at first, since it wasn't a princess movie, and there was a little scary moment at the beginning to which she shouted..'this movie is evil' LOL. She did end up liking it she told us tonight.

What a beautiful fall day it was outside today. Brynn always wants to rake leaves, so as soon as we got changed from church, she was out raking up her pile. And then had to take the four-wheeler out for a spin, too.

Who's this? Rosha came to play for the afternoon!

Back outside while we were waiting for supper to get done in the oven. Here she was grooming her pile for jumping.

She was proud of her leaf pile.

You might need to click on this one to really see her tongue sticking out. Ha! Look out, leaf pile!

Caught some air on that one.

Eeee! Cute fall photos. That actually looks like a cool play doh set. I would play that with you, Brynn. :)

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Reagan Graduation + MDW + Tennis

This past weekend our oldest niece, Reagan, graduated high school. She will be attending UND for nursing in the fall. We're so proud of you and love you so much, Reagan!   Cousin Cayden had his Italian soda bar set up at the party which was super fun and a big hit. She opened a few gifts the night before her commencement. Reagan is the third generation to graduate from Harvey High as my mom and her dad, Chad also attended there. This was such a fun gift idea that Tessa put together from her and Chad. We got back home Sunday evening and between the four of us doing different things, spent most of Memorial Day outside. It was such beautiful weather. Brynn and I played tennis and Dana and Clara replaced some shrubs and did yardwork. The tennis season has wrapped up for Brynn now. She's sad to not be playing anymore, but still gets some court time between playing with friends and sometimes Clara and/or me. We're so proud of her and glad she played again this year. I had taken s...
