Entertainment

I took the below picture waiting for the bus yesterday morning which was also school picture day! She was very excited for pictures and carefully selected an orange background (much to my surprise). She informed me that she was going to choose a different colored background each year. This should be interesting.

She was chatting away mid-sentence when I took the pic and then immediately stopped and gave me a look like 'I didn't even have a chance to pose!' Speaking of chatting, here's what else she's been talking about as of late, since she told me the other night, "I like chat, chat, chatting!" Yes, you do, Brynn.
  • During supper she mentioned something about how lying or being dishonest is following Satan. Somewhere in the conversation she got a stricken look on her face and asked, "does Satan live in North Dakota!?"
  • She asked me to play 20 questions after school the other day. The first of twenty started out as follows..."I am on the phone and no one wants to answer me..." I guessed a telemarketer, which was correct. ;-) (Side note: I had just answered our land line which happened to be a telemarketer and I hung up on them as soon as I realized. Coincidentally, as most who read this little blog probably know, I used to be a telemarketer in high school. And, no, no one wanted to talk to me!)
It is, of course, a little coolish in the mornings when Brynn gets on the bus, then warming up to quite hot temperatures by the afternoon. According to how Brynn dresses herself with her outdoor clothes in the mornings, you'd like it was already winter. She is actually under-dressed in the below picture compared to how she usually looks. Typically she also has a hat on and her hood pulled up. :-) She also makes sure she has her gloves on and her fall coat underneath that purple winter one. Yet again this morning I made mention of what a nice morning it was....no matter, she still needs all the garb. Her bus driver must have the same thoughts as I do because he asked her if she was warm enough this morning when she got on the bus. Ha.

Brynn has been into making bracelets again on her loom.

Last night we braved the mosquitoes in the park. Brynn found her old classmate there and they had a fun time together. They were in kindergarten together last year and we actually have seen them at the park many times when we've been there before. They were pretty excited to see each other and proceeded to spend the half hour we were there chasing each other. Not only is Brynn literally chasing boys, but apparently figuratively, too.  I swear I overheard her tell Brady, "don't tell anyone, but (such and such boy's name that I didn't catch) and I like each other." To which Brady responds, "did you tell your mom?" Uh no, she did not. :-/

Trying to keep up with the boys.

Taking a break on the bench together.

Finally!  A smile caught on camera!

Now that Clara has been awake for longer periods at a time, I thought I'd dig out this activity thing. It is so funny to watch her with it. She kicks her feet and gets all excited when it plays music and the little animals dance for her.

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Easter + April Birthdays

The girls had Thursday, Friday and Monday off from school for the Easter break. So, Dana and I took most of the same time off (work) to match.  Always reading. 💜 Hanging out with Brynn. 💗 Dana and I went on a Costco date. We tried our hand at homemade ravioli again. I think it went a bit more smoothly compared to last time. Hubert's sister Abby stopped by for a visit. We hadn't seen her in a long time and so it was fun to have her We celebrated Dana's birthday and kicked it off with some Sandy's donuts. I don't recall what was so funny. haha. Clara's card. Birthday King Clara dyed eggs. I baked a birthday cake for Dana, messed it up getting it out of the pans, and Clara somehow cobbled it together into a masterpiece. Dana chose Lucky 13's for dinner out. On Saturday we packed up to hit up Oliver's birthday party before we went on to Dead Lake for Easter. Oliver is 9! Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...
