One Month Old

Clara Rae is one month old today! Wow, that sure went by quickly. She still sleeps quite a bit, especially if she's in her swing, but is more and more alert/awake for longer each day, it seems.

I still think that she and Brynn look so much alike (when Brynn was a baby), but while Brynn was the sleeper, Clara is the eater! Clara usually sleeps 3-4 hours on average in the night; she makes sure she wakes up to eat, whereas when we were supposed to wake up Brynn to feed her, she would have rather kept sleeping. Clara seems to be growing so fast and seems bigger every day.

This morning she was still asleep in her bassinet (in our bedroom) and Dana was getting ready in the bathroom, also in our bedroom. I heard a laugh come from the bassinet and looked over at Clara to see her smiling. It was so cute. I wouldn't have believed I had heard a real laugh, but then Dana asked me if she had just laughed, as he had heard it from the bathroom. Too cute.

Snacking on her fingers, waiting for something more fulfilling.

Clara and cousin Reese. They were born four days apart. Clara looks like the peanut here, but after her mom and I were visiting, we realized Clara eats almost twice as much as Reese. Ha.

Hanging out in the swing.
These next three are of her at one month old, today.

School is still going well for big sister. Today she is starting back at the after school program at Hope. Last week she came home with this poster to fill out about herself. It was fun to see how she answered some of the questions.

She had originally put that she didn't like puzzles, and then I reminded her that she *really* didn't like storms, so she crossed out puzzles and answered with storms.

Making pizza the other night....with a sideways apron. :-)

Yes, I think Clara does look a lot like Brynn when she was a baby! She's getting so big now! Interesting info on Brynn; I didn't know she wanted to be a firefighter :)

Keep posting pics! We love to catch up on the latest with Clara and Brynn. I've never heard Brynn talk about being a firefighter when she grows up either. :)

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Reagan Graduation + MDW + Tennis

This past weekend our oldest niece, Reagan, graduated high school. She will be attending UND for nursing in the fall. We're so proud of you and love you so much, Reagan!   Cousin Cayden had his Italian soda bar set up at the party which was super fun and a big hit. She opened a few gifts the night before her commencement. Reagan is the third generation to graduate from Harvey High as my mom and her dad, Chad also attended there. This was such a fun gift idea that Tessa put together from her and Chad. We got back home Sunday evening and between the four of us doing different things, spent most of Memorial Day outside. It was such beautiful weather. Brynn and I played tennis and Dana and Clara replaced some shrubs and did yardwork. The tennis season has wrapped up for Brynn now. She's sad to not be playing anymore, but still gets some court time between playing with friends and sometimes Clara and/or me. We're so proud of her and glad she played again this year. I had taken s...
