Valentines

Happy belated Valentine's Day! We had a fun weekend. Brynn was able to decorate a box for her valentines at school. They had their party on Friday.

Clara playing

On Saturday I had reserved a time slot at the Plains Art Museum to take Brynn's seven-year pics and Clara's six-month pictures.

Pictures are OVER!

Clara had her six-month check-up a week ago and is healthy and growing well! She weighs 14 lbs which puts her in the 16th percentile for weight and she is in the 44% percentile for length. I would have thought the opposite for height and weight. She is working on sitting up all by herself and can do so unassisted for short periods of time. No toothies yet. Just in the past week she has been more receptive to her baby food/cereal, so hopefully that continues. She sure loves to be around big sister and always is laughing and smiling at her.

On Saturday night Brynn and I went to a West Fargo and Sheyenne High Schools production of Disney's Beauty and the Beast. It was so much fun. The cast did an excellent job. The orchestra played and were spot on as well. The set also looked amazing. We partook in some of the homemade concessions at intermission and they were so tasty. We saw one of Brynn's old preschool teachers/baby-sitter there too.

Ready to head out.

Lumiere stole the show for sure.

Brynn and Belle

Sunday night Grandma Holly came up to stay, so Dana and I took her up on her offer to baby-sit and went out for Valentine's Day.
We're excited to be out.

Tonight we had Brynn's parent-teacher conferences. She had a good report from Mrs. Stewart. She said Brynn is well liked by the other students and is respectful in class and is a gem! There were some areas that Brynn should keep working on, like organization and some math and reading comprehension skills, but overall she is a good student and doing well in first grade. Mrs. Stewart said she is still reading at a level which would be where they're at toward the end of the year.

I am still laughing at this video I took after supper tonight. Brynn was belting out "Noel," and I just had to capture some of it; she was really getting into it. The camera starts shaking a bit in the middle - that is me laughing. She didn't know I was recording her. Not sure if she misses Christmas or where the Christmas tune came from...enjoy! ;-)    Noel

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Reagan Graduation + MDW + Tennis

This past weekend our oldest niece, Reagan, graduated high school. She will be attending UND for nursing in the fall. We're so proud of you and love you so much, Reagan!   Cousin Cayden had his Italian soda bar set up at the party which was super fun and a big hit. She opened a few gifts the night before her commencement. Reagan is the third generation to graduate from Harvey High as my mom and her dad, Chad also attended there. This was such a fun gift idea that Tessa put together from her and Chad. We got back home Sunday evening and between the four of us doing different things, spent most of Memorial Day outside. It was such beautiful weather. Brynn and I played tennis and Dana and Clara replaced some shrubs and did yardwork. The tennis season has wrapped up for Brynn now. She's sad to not be playing anymore, but still gets some court time between playing with friends and sometimes Clara and/or me. We're so proud of her and glad she played again this year. I had taken s...
