Memorial Weekend & Piano Recital

We spent Saturday and Sunday of the holiday weekend at Dead Lake with Dana's parents. We had fantastic weather on Saturday. And on Sunday Brynn, Papa Kevin, Daddy and two family friends all caught over 40 sunnies! They must have found the sweet spot. Clara and Granny Annie Sleepy snuggles Playing Yahtzee Brynn asked Grandma to set up Grandpa's hammock, so they got that all situated and then Brynn couldn't get into it herself. We both eventually got ourselves in it together and Brynn hardly stopped giggling hysterically the whole time we were in there. We were having so much fun. Holly grabbed my camera and snapped a few pics of us together in there. I was so glad she did because Brynn kept talking about our laughs in the hammock, and now we have pictures to remember our fun times together. Tonight was Brynn's piano recital at Atonement Lutheran Church. The theme of the recital was "A Night at the Movies." Brynn&#

Picnic in the Park and Just Clara

Today Brynn's class had a picnic in the park at Stonebridge Park which is the one behind our house. Mrs. Stewart invited parents to join them either at the park or to walk over with the class. Brynn asked me if I would walk with them so I met up with them at the school to walk over. It was such a perfect day; the kids seemed to have a lot of fun. I also got to meet one of Brynn's newer friends, Melissa, who moved here mid-year from Philadelphia. She and her family live in the apartments across the park, and I think she and Brynn did play together one night when Dana took Brynn to the park. She was quite a character. She talked non-stop and was so animated. Ha. I got a kick out of her. She also rides the bus in the morning, so Brynn has a bus buddy now and I think they usually eat breakfast together at the school.  Sitting with Melissa and Brynn's other friend, Lilly. Since it was so nice out Brynn suggested we walk over to Penny's for her pian

Just Brynn

Winner, winner; chicken dinner & Happy 80th Birthday to Grandpa

Clara has really picked up on self-feeding in the past week or so. And each day she seems to get a little bit more food into her mouth on her own. She gets a little wild, though, and likes to sweep her food all over with her hands. We found out her favorite so far is chicken. Brynn was a total fruit eater all the way, and Clara seems to be our carnivore. We had tacos tonight and realized she fits right into this family with her love of them too. She scarfed down the (plain) hamburger, cheese, and some tortilla bits. Big girl!   Baby sister was supposed to be lying down for a nap on Saturday afternoon, but as I was rocking her in my lap in her room, she kept sitting up and looking for big sister out in the family room. So, I had to give up on that and they played together for a bit. Mostly Clara chewed on her favorite thing ever, her sock, and Brynn was off doing something else within five minutes. :-) But it was very fun and heartwarming to see them playing together for any

The Happiness Machine

Throwback Thursday-style, here is baby Brynn! I dug out this ride-on toy for Clara the other day, and it reminded me of when Brynn used to tool around on it. Looking back on the blog for it, I realized they were almost identical in weight. Clara has always seemed more solid than Brynn to me. Brynn said they make these paint bubbles at HopeKids and wanted to try it at home. I relegated her to the garage, though, as it sounded like a messy project to me. It was, but at least it was in the garage then. If you've been to our house lately, perhaps you received some happiness from the happiness machine that Brynn made at school. They used recyclables to make a project on Earth Day. Silliness before bedtime last night.. Today HopeKids After School Program invited the parents over for some games and treats. I picked up Clara on my way in and we mostly visited with everyone else. Mmm, spaghetti.
