Mother's Day

This weekend we were at Carrington/Hurdsfield to celebrate Mother's Day and my dad's birthday which is tomorrow. We stayed at my parents' Friday night and at Weckerly's last night. We ended up cutting our trip short, however, as Brynn came down with the flu this morning. Poor thing. It was a rather rough ride back home today, as she got sick a couple more times in the truck, but we made it back home and she has been resting, and hopefully will feel well enough to go back to school tomorrow.

On Saturday we spent some time in Harvey visiting with Grandma D.

Grandma and the great-grandkids.

Grandpa Kim and Clara

Mother's Day was twice and nice for me this year now that Clara is here! I got a lot of nice gifts and we ordered pizza in tonight, so Mom didn't even have to cook.

A framed photo of Clara from daycare.

I got a new scarf (with cats on it!) and new slippers.

Well, it's not Thursday or Friday for Throwback Thursday or Flashback Friday, but I thought I'd include some fun pics of us and our moms for Mother's Day. Happy Mother's Day! We love you!

Dana and Holly at our wedding.

I was a Freshman in HS here, which I think puts my mom at about the same age as I am now. Does that sound right, Mom?

Love you too! So sad our time was cut short and Brynnie was sick. :( But it was such a nice time together. Oh my - yes I think I would have been about 35 on that photo. Seems like yesterday. . .

Glad you had a nice Mother's Day weekend. Sorry it was cut short. Thanks for the picture of us Mom's. You're a great Mom to our grand daughters!

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Halloween 2025

Happy Halloween! We did trick-or-treating at my office again and celebrated National Cat Day a couple of days late. Unicorn making magic happen! The kids and Freddy. We got a little bit of a late start around 7:30. We went to a neighborhood near the high school where several of Clara's friends live. We stopped at Micah's house to say hi and another schoolmate happened to be over as well. We got to visiting too long and by the time we headed back out, some houses either had run out of candy (including Micah's, where they went through 600 pieces his mom said) or were already done for the night. But, we still got around to several. It had just gotten done raining and the wind was cold, so I didn't care to be out too long myself. Clara asked to have another post-Halloween party this year and Brynn planned and executed the whole thing. One of our fav parts was the missing children posters which were all the guests. Green Army Man, Clara Barton, Luna Lovegood (from Harry Pott...

Christmas 2025/New Years 2026

Christmas gift wrapping shenanigans: Keeping Brynn company while she wraps all of our Christmas gifts. Brynn and I couldn't help but peek at the 150 Famous Poems book we gave to Clara. So many good ones. Getting into the holiday spirit at Courts Plus. Ha! Christmas eve brunch. Clara's gingerbread house contest strategy notes. Contestants were allowed 20 minutes to shop for their houses at Wal-mart. We left ourselves little time to get ready for the 3:00 Christmas eve service at our church. But, we made it and thankfully didn't have to sit in the overflow area in the chapel! It was a beautiful service. We had bit more time in between church and when we planned to leave for Tessa's, so I mixed up my eggnog and we got the car packed. Tessa's family hosted Christmas eve at their lake home. We had a great mix of people to play a game of Mind the Gap. Getting cookies ready for Santa. Clara got Dana and me up around 7:30 and we watched her open her stocking. I think Dana a...
