9 Months

Tuesday night was the first annual Art and Music Night at Centennial. They were featuring students' artwork and MSUM had their students there doing pottery, face painting, and caricatures. Centennial students could go to different booths for different activities like self portraits, photo ops, etc. So, Brynn and I walked over to check it out. The music students were performing at 7:00, but we figured we should head home at that time to get to our nightly routine of homework, piano practicing, etc. It was fun, though!

Brynn's mask she made in art class.

Almost done with 1st grade already! :-(

This child does not like to keep her socks on. She looks so proud of herself every time she pulls them off...which is every chance she gets. I set her down to play while I finished getting things packed up in the car the other morning, and came back to find her like this. Sneaky!

Clara is now nine months old! I can't hardly believe it. She had a good check-up yesterday and is very healthy. Little, but healthy. :-) She weights about 15.5 lbs which puts her in the 15th percentile compared to other babies her age. She is working on table food slowly, but surely. She isn't crawling yet, but pushes herself around. No toothies, just like big sister at this same age. Looks like we have another late teether. Her favorite trick is to clap. She is catching on to 'so big' also.

There was a lot happening at Centennial this week, as this morning was Muffins for Moms. They had a little different set-up this year for the flow of getting your muffins and finding a spot to sit, and that seemed to go a lot smoother. The muffins were delicious and it was so fun to go and have breakfast with Brynn! She was pretty excited, of course.

Baby sister got to tag along and have a little bit of muffin, too.

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Medora Trip

Last weekend Clara and I traveled west to Medora. Clara had never been there before and was interested in checking it out. She was mapping out our route (which was pretty straightforward!) before we left. We made good time and, of course, had to stop at The Coffee Cup in Steele. (Growing up whenever we would go to Bismarck, it was must to stop here for snacks.) We waved to Sue on our way past New Salem. It was beautiful weather when we rolled into Medora. We were able to get checked into our motel right away and walked into town to start checking things of our itinerary. Our first stop was ice cream! After ice cream we just walked around town a bit and went into some of the shops. Clara had a burger from Sheriff Bear's before we got back to our motel just ahead of a rain shower. After the weather cleared, I was hungry for dinner so we shared some pizza and drove into the Theodore Roosevelt National Park for a bit. It was very foggy and misty when we got up on Saturday morning. We ...
