HopeKids Halloween Party

Today the HopeKids ASP had a Halloween Party for the kids. Brynn said moms could come too (although I didn't receive an 'official' invite from the staff). So, Clara and I kind of crashed the party as it turned out I was the only mom there really! There was one dad who was there as well, but I couldn't tell if he had been invited by his child or if he just came at the time of the party to pick his kid up and ended up staying. Ha. It was fun, though, and so nice of the staff to do something like that. The students are not allowed to wear their costumes at Brynn's school, but they do host a Halloween party in the evening where they can wear their costumes, typically somewhere near the 31st. This year it is on Friday and I think Brynn does plan on going.

Anyway, on to the pictures! They played Candy Corn Bingo for some fun prizes:

Clara didn't want to be missing out. All the 'school-agers' seemed pretty enamored with her.

Brynn dressed up as a 'scary princess' or something like that, I think. The staff instructed the kids to not wear anything scary and Brynn was concerned her Maleficent horns would be too scary, so she opted for the crown instead. I thought Rosha was a kitty, but Brynn told me she was something else...some other animal that I can think of now. A raccoon or something, I thought she said.

Watching the big girls.

Patiently watching the big girls. Aww, I think she just looks so sweet in this picture, sitting with her hands all folded in her lap.

This was some type of musical chairs game:

We are all getting very excited for the *real* Halloween! The cousins are coming trick-or-treating with us this year and we have a fun little party planned with them before we head out trick-or-treating. The weather is supposed to be decent, so hopefully we won't have to bundle the kids up too much so that you can still tell what their costumes are.

Hahaha, party crashers! Clara was apparently entranced, while Rosha looked unimpressed.

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Easter + April Birthdays

The girls had Thursday, Friday and Monday off from school for the Easter break. So, Dana and I took most of the same time off (work) to match.  Always reading. 💜 Hanging out with Brynn. 💗 Dana and I went on a Costco date. We tried our hand at homemade ravioli again. I think it went a bit more smoothly compared to last time. Hubert's sister Abby stopped by for a visit. We hadn't seen her in a long time and so it was fun to have her We celebrated Dana's birthday and kicked it off with some Sandy's donuts. I don't recall what was so funny. haha. Clara's card. Birthday King Clara dyed eggs. I baked a birthday cake for Dana, messed it up getting it out of the pans, and Clara somehow cobbled it together into a masterpiece. Dana chose Lucky 13's for dinner out. On Saturday we packed up to hit up Oliver's birthday party before we went on to Dead Lake for Easter. Oliver is 9! Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...
