Fourth of July

Our Fourth of July weekend didn't start out too hot when Brynn came down with a flu bug on Friday night. She was pretty down and out all day on Saturday and popped out of her room on Sunday morning wondering when we were going to leave for the lake. Thankfully we weren't planning on going anywhere until then anyhow and that it didn't last any longer for her.

Resting on Saturday

We first went to Tamarac with my sister's family and her in-laws. It just wouldn't be Fourth of July if we didn't get to spend some time out there, so we appreciate going each year.

Auntie and Clara

It also wouldn't be Fourth of July if we didn't do our annual nieces pic of Clara and Prairie. They are only about a week apart in age.

Wanda gave the kids paint to mess around with, emphasis on the mess. Haha. They took to body art with it.

The body painting gave way to a parade idea. Here is Reagan getting the line-up organized.

It was a fine parade! Here is video of the live action:

We met Dana's parents for supper and spent the rest of our time at their cabin until we came back to Fargo on Tuesday. We sure lucked out with great weather this year...and I hate to jinx it, but hardly a mosquito!

Brynn made an obstacle course and roped Dad into tackling it. He did quite well!

Redneck bath at the lake! hehe

Brynn thought we should have our own paddle boat parade Tuesday morning so Monday night she worked hard on signs to decorate our 'float.'

On our float. We picked up another paddle boat float along the way which I'm sure made us a legitimate parade at that point.

We didn't have any candy to toss or anything, but one cabin actually handed out treats to us! These adorable eagle treats were the cutest!

Root beer floats on Tuesday...

We did some small fireworks in our backyard.

Mmm, those root beer floats look delicious! That picture of Dana holding his sparkler is great :) Loved Clara's bath in the "outdoor tub" and the obstacle course - how great!

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Christmas 2025/New Years 2026

Christmas gift wrapping shenanigans: Keeping Brynn company while she wraps all of our Christmas gifts. Brynn and I couldn't help but peek at the 150 Famous Poems book we gave to Clara. So many good ones. Getting into the holiday spirit at Courts Plus. Ha! Christmas eve brunch. Clara's gingerbread house contest strategy notes. Contestants were allowed 20 minutes to shop for their houses at Wal-mart. We left ourselves little time to get ready for the 3:00 Christmas eve service at our church. But, we made it and thankfully didn't have to sit in the overflow area in the chapel! It was a beautiful service. We had bit more time in between church and when we planned to leave for Tessa's, so I mixed up my eggnog and we got the car packed. Tessa's family hosted Christmas eve at their lake home. We had a great mix of people to play a game of Mind the Gap. Getting cookies ready for Santa. Clara got Dana and me up around 7:30 and we watched her open her stocking. I think Dana a...
