First Day of School

Brynn knew last night that we would be doing the annual obligatory photos on the front step this morning. :-) So, she kindly indulged me again. She seems so much older this year.

It wasn't Clara first day of anything and she didn't want any pics in front of the house, but she did allow me to snap one of her outside of church/preschool. We got Clara dropped off and then headed to Brynn's school.

They posted this in the preschool app today. I was surprised that Clara's fav toy is a truck, but that's a definite on her fav food. Ha. She did have a big day as she also had the share bag in which she brings a book from home to share with the class. She chose 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar."

So, Brynn totally blew me off when we got to the school! I was all ready to go in with her and take her to her classroom, just like all the other years prior. She had other plans, though, which were to meet up with one of her friends for breakfast. So, she was just going to blow right through the front doors without even so much as a hug! I was so flabbergasted, but did manage to stop her in time to grab a quick pic before she went in. I only had one shot she told me. And then I told her I did at least need a hug and then off she went.  *sniffle*

I'm happy to report that she did have a great first day though.

Great pics! Everyone over here loves mac & cheese, too, Clara! So glad Brynn had a great first day and that you managed to sneak in a picture before she was off!

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Christmas 2025/New Years 2026

Christmas gift wrapping shenanigans: Keeping Brynn company while she wraps all of our Christmas gifts. Brynn and I couldn't help but peek at the 150 Famous Poems book we gave to Clara. So many good ones. Getting into the holiday spirit at Courts Plus. Ha! Christmas eve brunch. Clara's gingerbread house contest strategy notes. Contestants were allowed 20 minutes to shop for their houses at Wal-mart. We left ourselves little time to get ready for the 3:00 Christmas eve service at our church. But, we made it and thankfully didn't have to sit in the overflow area in the chapel! It was a beautiful service. We had bit more time in between church and when we planned to leave for Tessa's, so I mixed up my eggnog and we got the car packed. Tessa's family hosted Christmas eve at their lake home. We had a great mix of people to play a game of Mind the Gap. Getting cookies ready for Santa. Clara got Dana and me up around 7:30 and we watched her open her stocking. I think Dana a...
