Catching Up

It seems like it has been so long since I last updated the blog...well, not seems; it really has been a while! Anyhow, here's what we've been up to lately..

It was my Sunday to teach Sunday School last week. The project for the class was to create your favorite Bible story using art supplies that were provided. All the kids got so into it and were so creative. It was fun to see what stories meant the most to them and see how they brought them to 'life' through their artwork.

Brynn chose Christmas, so this her manger scene.

Brynn reading the funnies last Sunday.

We've all been left wondering these past few weeks where spring is. The girls made the most of the snow and these icicles last weekend.

All that outside play really pooped them out. (Spoiler alert: neither of them is actually sleeping in this photo.)

Clara must have done something to glean Brynn's disapproving look.

Clara has been practicing her letters a lot lately; mostly her name.

Not sure how this is even comfortable! (Yes, she is still in her crib! I'm sure sometime soon we'll make the switch to a big girl bed).

After-school/work snuggles with Daddy.

Another sleepy head.

Making muffins this morning.

Clara attended a birthday party today for one of her classmate friends. Her three watches told her it was time to party!

It was in a shop in Moorhead which rents out the Games 2 Go inflatables and games. They had it all set up in their space and kitchen and tables set up for pizza, cake and ice cream. Clara didn't want me to leave her there and Brynn tagged along since Dana is out of town. Thankfully Brynn was able to participate in the games, too....and pizza, cake and ice cream. She even scored a favor bag.

Clara was jumping up and down on that inflatable 'border/fence' on this tee ball game. Just as I was thinking I'd better head over there to warn her that she should stop as she could fall off, she tumbled backwards and hit her head on the cement. She was understandably pretty upset. I even could hear her head hit the ground and she had an immediate goose egg. Poor thing. She was regaling her tale to me later at home and told me how when she tipped over her 'feet went up to the sky.'

Fun times! Ha, love her comment about her feet going up to the sky. Brynn was pretty creative with her manger scene!

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Christmas 2025/New Years 2026

Christmas gift wrapping shenanigans: Keeping Brynn company while she wraps all of our Christmas gifts. Brynn and I couldn't help but peek at the 150 Famous Poems book we gave to Clara. So many good ones. Getting into the holiday spirit at Courts Plus. Ha! Christmas eve brunch. Clara's gingerbread house contest strategy notes. Contestants were allowed 20 minutes to shop for their houses at Wal-mart. We left ourselves little time to get ready for the 3:00 Christmas eve service at our church. But, we made it and thankfully didn't have to sit in the overflow area in the chapel! It was a beautiful service. We had bit more time in between church and when we planned to leave for Tessa's, so I mixed up my eggnog and we got the car packed. Tessa's family hosted Christmas eve at their lake home. We had a great mix of people to play a game of Mind the Gap. Getting cookies ready for Santa. Clara got Dana and me up around 7:30 and we watched her open her stocking. I think Dana a...
