I posted about our summer bucket list in this previous post. Tonight we were able to check our first thing off the list: ride down to the river on our bikes.
When we set out, I wasn't quite sure at what point along the way we would be able to get down to the river. There is a bike path across the road from our house which goes north and south along University. We can see the river down along the path and we stopped once we got going a little ways to see if we could determine a good spot where we could get down closer, but were only met with tall grass. We all feared ticks, so we pressed on up north a ways to see if we could find a different area.
We stopped near a little lift station and Brynn spied a path down to the river. Success!

It was a beautiful night out with hardly any wind and some nice cloud cover. I only got two mosquito bites and they weren't until we got back into our yard. So, I was pleasantly surprised that it was relatively bug-free down by the river.
The girls thought it was really neat down there, so we hope to go back again soon. The girls talked about having a picnic down by the water next time.
On to the next thing to check off on the bucket list...which we don't know what that will be quite yet.
