Halloween Preview & other October happenings

Isn't this cute with Clara in her piggy sleeping mask...well, probably not so cute in church! Haha. I don't know why she even brought her sleeping mask. Usually she is in Sunday School during the service, but over teachers convention weekend they were on a break. Clara must have taken that pretty literally.

A couple of weekends ago our good friends who live in Fergus (Dana grew up with Adam who is sitting here at the table) came to town so I could take their family pictures and then came over to visit for the evening. The kids had such a fun time together and it was a great time catching up for the adults.

It was so warm a couple of Sundays ago we took advantage and went down to the orchard where I took the girls' pictures this spring. Instead of going through the orchard, we went the opposite direction after we had discovered some walking trails that go along the river.

haha!

I figured I'd better finally get this post up since Halloween is tomorrow and all! Clara is dressing up as a wolf. She's got her howl down pat!

Brynn is Hermione Granger from the "Harry Potter" series.

It was pretty humorous as in the books, one of the professors turns into a cat. There are also wolves throughout the story as well. So, I thought when the neighbor cat came over while the girls were dressed up, it looked like the professor with them, though in the story the cat is gray not orange. Oh well, close enough!

Last week the girls finished another session of gymnastics and decided to sign up for another round.

Last week I wrapped up my grower visits to capture drone footage and pics of soybean harvest for work  I found a kitty on my last visit. I was cracking up at the piece of grass stuck in his mouth.

I was so excited that at this same visit I got a combine ride. He had a pretty old combine so no real buddy seat, but I at least did have a tool box to sit on. This grower was coincidentally not far from Dana's parents' farm.

Last Thursday Clara's preschool class went to the pumpkin patch North of town. It was a chilly, windy day and I was rather miserable (parents could accompany their kids on the outing), but the kids didn't seem to be bothered any, of course.

These little chickens appeared to have escaped their pen. It really caused a stir with the kids...and the dog who was following us around.

Clara always likes to pretend she's a farmer. :-)

Last Friday was the fall festival at Brynn's school which is also their chance to wear their costumes to school since they are not allowed on the actual Halloween day.

This is Brynn's friend, also named Brynn. Her mom and I went to MSUM at the same time and had some business classes together. The Brynns also attend the Hope after-school program together. I think the other Brynn is in third grade.

It didn't take Brynn long to ditch me for her friends. I busied myself with numerous games of Bingo. I had to go back and purchase more tickets to get more cards and ran into Brynn and her cronies so I could snap a pic of them together.

I was trying to go for Blackout at the end of the night, but ended up two away from a winning card. Two students blacked out at the same time and it was sudden death Bingo!

Saturday morning was a Halloween party at Skate City. Dana took the girls and stopped at Brynn's friend's house to pick her up on the way.

haha. They had fun games and activities there.

Meanwhile, I was running errands and picking up some decorations for my office. This guy jumped into my cart, so he was coming with me. I will try to get some video or pics of my office tomorrow to show how everything came together.

At the school fall festival they had caramel apple nachos. They looked really good and I thought it was a fun idea so we had those for a treat while Brynn had her friend over.

Clara got to have a friend over on Saturday, too. Brynn and Cayden made a Halloween carnival for the little girls. It was so neat and Clara got super into it, of course.

The girls love to do this thing they made up called butt launcher. It's pretty hilarious.

Brynn making a toothpaste tube out of Play-doh.

We made ghost treats for Clara's preschool class. She really was more excited than she appears in this first photo. Haha.

I can't wait for Halloween tomorrow! I'll hopefully have a bunch of pics to post. Happy Halloween!

Aw, wow so many great pics! Where did you get Clara's wolf costume? So cute. Brynn hit it out of the park with hers as well - so good! Love that pumpkin patch bus. Looks like the girls had fun with their friends. We love apple nachos, too, yummy! Very creative Play Doh toothpaste! I'm never very clever with my Play Doh creations :/

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Reagan Graduation + MDW + Tennis

This past weekend our oldest niece, Reagan, graduated high school. She will be attending UND for nursing in the fall. We're so proud of you and love you so much, Reagan!   Cousin Cayden had his Italian soda bar set up at the party which was super fun and a big hit. She opened a few gifts the night before her commencement. Reagan is the third generation to graduate from Harvey High as my mom and her dad, Chad also attended there. This was such a fun gift idea that Tessa put together from her and Chad. We got back home Sunday evening and between the four of us doing different things, spent most of Memorial Day outside. It was such beautiful weather. Brynn and I played tennis and Dana and Clara replaced some shrubs and did yardwork. The tennis season has wrapped up for Brynn now. She's sad to not be playing anymore, but still gets some court time between playing with friends and sometimes Clara and/or me. We're so proud of her and glad she played again this year. I had taken s...
