Birthdays and Snow Storms

Last Saturday we had a fun time celebrating cousin Elise's 10th birthday party at Detroit Mountain in Detroit Lakes. After a brutal week of cold, we really lucked out with a nice day for tubing. Happy birthday to Elise!

After that party, it was on to the next! We celebrated Holly's birthday at True Blue and then with skating afterward. Happy birthday to Holly!

Haha! This scene was so hilarious. When we were out to eat Christel ordered seafood strew which included a couple of crab legs. Apparently the girls hadn't seen anyone eat crab legs before and they didn't seem to take too kindly to it. Brynn looks horrified and Clara traumatized. I think they're ok now, though.

My mom has been cleaning out some stuff from storage and organizing things at their house. She came across an old dress that my grandparents had brought back for me on a trip they took to Mexico. I'm sure I was a long smaller than Clara is now because it seemed to fit her kind of snugly, but it was fun to have her try it on.

We have been seeing a lot of sundogs lately due to the bitter cold. This was across from our house on Monday.

Even so, Brynn went outside to play after we got home. Brrr!

Rosy cheeks!

On Tuesday night I hosted book club at our house and made one of my favs: chocolate chip cookie cheesecake bars. I had to taste test to make sure they were ok for the book clubbers.

Dana fired up his snowmobile and was giving the girls rides around the yard on it.

Mmm, cheesy quesadillas!

We found ourselves in the midst of another snow day today. Even Dana stayed home and he and I both tried to work from home. The girls did pretty well keeping busy; Brynn more so than Clara, of course. Clara did make a lot of Easy Bake oven creations though. She took her shirt off for baking and ended up with chocolate all over her face, stomach and arm. Ha.

Command Central:

Brynn has been asking me for months to start a website that featured hers and my adventures or something to that effect. She wanted to get one going on Wix, but I feel like I can hardly keep up with this blog, much less help her with an entirely different website. But today she asked me if she could just get started on it, so I let her go for it. I think she has the first, homepage all set up. I'm not sure of the URL even though. Work in progress!

She also got her Valentine's box made. I think she may be expecting to receive a lot of valentines judging by the size of her box. Harry Potter themed, of course.

Well, school is two hours late tomorrow, so here's hoping for improved weather conditions.

We are headed to Grand Forks tomorrow for the state Lego League competition on Saturday.

Stay warm, everyone!

You're brave heading out to play in the cold, Brynn! The kids have been asking already here today to go out, but it's so cold out. Clara looks so grown up lately. Happy bday to Holly and thanks for coming to celebrate Elise's with us!

Forgot to say, send us your web address when it's up and running, Brynn! Reagan tried to get a blog going maybe last year, I think it was, but hasn't updated it in quite some time! She's gunning for a you tube channel next :)

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Reagan Graduation + MDW + Tennis

This past weekend our oldest niece, Reagan, graduated high school. She will be attending UND for nursing in the fall. We're so proud of you and love you so much, Reagan!   Cousin Cayden had his Italian soda bar set up at the party which was super fun and a big hit. She opened a few gifts the night before her commencement. Reagan is the third generation to graduate from Harvey High as my mom and her dad, Chad also attended there. This was such a fun gift idea that Tessa put together from her and Chad. We got back home Sunday evening and between the four of us doing different things, spent most of Memorial Day outside. It was such beautiful weather. Brynn and I played tennis and Dana and Clara replaced some shrubs and did yardwork. The tennis season has wrapped up for Brynn now. She's sad to not be playing anymore, but still gets some court time between playing with friends and sometimes Clara and/or me. We're so proud of her and glad she played again this year. I had taken s...
