Vegas Trip

I am way behind on blogging, but here finally is our Vegas trip that we took a couple of weeks ago. We flew out Friday evening, but our flight was delayed about an hour and a half out of Fargo. Luckily we found out before we left for the airport.

Arriving in Vegas. So, we landed in Vegas after a direct flight from Fargo around 11:00 PM.

I didn't take my camera, so all the pics were just from my cell phone.

We hadn't planned a long trip and would be flying back out on Monday afternoon, so we tried to make the most of our time. Once we checked into our hotel, we ventured out for a bit and stopped for some appetizers and drinks. I had been awake for about 23 hours at this point, with the time change and all, so that was about it for me!

We stayed at the Flamingo which was really busy. We tried to spend as much time in the pool there as possible since the heat was ferocious. I think the highest it got was 112 degrees.

We had made reservations for Saturday night at a nearby restaurant, Spago.  When I confirmed the reservation, I was asked if we were coming in for a special occasion and I checked the box that said 'anniversary' since that was the whole reason for our trip in the first place. It was right near the Bellagio's fountains, so the view was pretty nice.

Fun bread board!

We had ordered a dessert and then they brought this little treat out with Congratulations for our anniversary. It didn't really seem like it was the same as what we had ordered, but it was really tasty, so we just proceeded to eat it.

Then our actual dessert that we ordered showed up. Uff. Apparently the first one was the complimentary one for our anniversary. Ha!

After dinner we went to the Tropicana for a comedy show which was super funny.

Our windows had these thick mesh screens so it was sort of difficult to see out them, but one morning I woke up to see a hot air balloon down below.

On Sunday night we had tickets to a rock concert at the Hard Rock Hotel. We found a really good Chinese restaurant in the hotel to eat at before the show.

On Monday we spent the rest of our time walking around some of the other nearby hotels/casinos. We discovered The Cheesecake Factory in Caesar's Palace. Oh. Man. It was so good. Neither one of us had ever eaten at one before, but we were so glad we checked it out.

Heading home!

We were glad to get away for a trip with just the two of us, even though we didn't do a ton of stuff in Vegas. It was just so hot during the day, it was hard to do anything much outside, except to be at the pool. Dana wanted to do a zipline thing. I instead offered to video him from the ground. :-) But, he didn't end up doing it. I think if we ever go back, we'll plan for a less scorching time of year!

Thank you to the grandparents for watching the girls while we were away. Here's some pics of what they were up to while we were gone.

At the pool in Lake Park.

Watching Grandpa Kevin hard at work.

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Easter + April Birthdays

The girls had Thursday, Friday and Monday off from school for the Easter break. So, Dana and I took most of the same time off (work) to match.  Always reading. 💜 Hanging out with Brynn. 💗 Dana and I went on a Costco date. We tried our hand at homemade ravioli again. I think it went a bit more smoothly compared to last time. Hubert's sister Abby stopped by for a visit. We hadn't seen her in a long time and so it was fun to have her We celebrated Dana's birthday and kicked it off with some Sandy's donuts. I don't recall what was so funny. haha. Clara's card. Birthday King Clara dyed eggs. I baked a birthday cake for Dana, messed it up getting it out of the pans, and Clara somehow cobbled it together into a masterpiece. Dana chose Lucky 13's for dinner out. On Saturday we packed up to hit up Oliver's birthday party before we went on to Dead Lake for Easter. Oliver is 9! January + Valentine's Day + CATS!

We ARE still alive over here and have not frozen to death. Here's what we've been up to for the past month and a half! Brynn and Hubert at the OG (Olive Garden): 'Lady and the Tramp' style. haha. Taking in a Force game...with extra fighting. It was very exciting. One Sunday when Clara was at a sleepover, the three of us went to Black Coffee Waffle Bar after church and then for some crepes and boba at Tea & Crepe. Then Brynn and I went prom dress shopping which was really fun. She did find a dress she loves so that was a relief. This is not the one she chose, but she tried on quite a few nice ones. Clara made crowns for the king and I (me). Clara had to write an essay to be considered for the robotics team at school. She waited for at least a couple of weeks to learn if she was accepted, and unfortunately was not. She was pretty disappointed, but she does have a chance to reapply next year when she's a fifth grader, and won't have to write another essay. I th...
