Labor Day Weekend 2019

Before I launch into Labor Day weekend update, here are a few happenings from last weekend.

The girls love to put forts together...cleaning them up, though? Not so much.

Princess Frozen Clara :-D

We had our friends the Petersens over for dinner last Saturday night. Karlie and Brynn were having fun doing Just Dance on the Wii. Dana came in to challenge Karlie, but Karlie smoked him. :-) I think Dana had gotten a bit rusty on his moves.

Hope posted this pic in the app last week of Clara 'playing school' with her best buddy, Cade.

We all got together on Saturday at my parents' lake to celebrate my mom's birthday (which is actually today!).  My cousin Tammy came to surprise her with her granddaughter. So much fun.

The BFF Shimmer Club was reunited!

Clara had a bad run-in with a leech that had attached itself onto her foot. The BFF Shimmer Club members came together with cards and 'get well' sentiments. So sweet.

Happy Birthday, Grandma!

Grandpa's lawn tractor and trailer sure got a work out hauling around all the grandkids.

PJ Cousins!

Tammy and Brianna had to head back early as Tammy had to work the next day. I noticed Brianna had texted this to Brynn after they had left. 💓

Fun with boxes...

We spent the night in Lake Park and then went over to Dead Lake for the day on Sunday.

Well, it turned out to be just a day visit for me. I came back home while the rest stayed to help with cabin reno. Looks like the girls were put to work this morning. haha! I laughed so hard at this picture.

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Medora Trip

Last weekend Clara and I traveled west to Medora. Clara had never been there before and was interested in checking it out. She was mapping out our route (which was pretty straightforward!) before we left. We made good time and, of course, had to stop at The Coffee Cup in Steele. (Growing up whenever we would go to Bismarck, it was must to stop here for snacks.) We waved to Sue on our way past New Salem. It was beautiful weather when we rolled into Medora. We were able to get checked into our motel right away and walked into town to start checking things of our itinerary. Our first stop was ice cream! After ice cream we just walked around town a bit and went into some of the shops. Clara had a burger from Sheriff Bear's before we got back to our motel just ahead of a rain shower. After the weather cleared, I was hungry for dinner so we shared some pizza and drove into the Theodore Roosevelt National Park for a bit. It was very foggy and misty when we got up on Saturday morning. We ...
