Soccer Ball, Gardening and Memories

Brynn made some personalized decorations for Clara's lamp.

Brynn is still a huge Harry Potter fan. She wanted to write to one of her favorite actresses from the movie, Emma Watson, who plays Hermione. She thought she was able to find her address on the internet somewhere. She keeps telling me how she thinks about her letter every day and wonders when she might receive a reply back. I was hoping she wouldn't get her hopes up too high about getting something in return, but she said she's not. So, we shall see!

Clara was working on multiplication one morning last week.

Brynn repainted one of her old bird houses.

The girls were playing this game of sorts where they had to draw blindfolded.

Together with our next-door neighbor, Dana rented this rig and cut down some dead trees between our properties. I think he had the time of his life that day.

He's been able to get a lot of outside projects done and things cleaned up in his time off. He received a call today that he is indeed starting back at working from home on Monday. I'm kinda bummed as it's been so great for Clara, but it's a good thing overall that he is able to start up work again.

Last Wednesday the girls and I rode bike to the river just North of us a bit.

We made it back for Brynn to Zoom with her confirmation group. It happened to be Earth Day that day, so the confirmation leaders challenged the girls to pick up trash in their yard or neighborhood and text a picture to the group to kind of see who collected the most. They were encouraged to recruit family members to help also. So, Clara and I grabbed some bags and gloves along with Brynn and we headed down the ditches of University.

We found quite a bit, but not as much (or as interesting of things) as another family who we realized was just up North of us also on University only a little ways. They found an old iPhone and $24!

I have no idea why this child felt the need to strike such a pose with a pile of trash.

I had caught wind that one of the bars in West Fargo was doing a drive-in movie, both Friday and Saturday night. So, Friday night at about 10:30 we pulled into the parking lot, ordered some snacks and settled in to watch "Top Gun." It was so much fun. We had a great spot and yum-o snacks of loaded tots and cheese curds that they delivered right out to us in our car. It was nice to get out to do something.

Gettin' my hair done on Sunday by this cute little stylist.

I cannot buy enough apples and oranges for this girl. She usually eats either 3-4 little oranges or 1-2 apples every day. :-)

Dana and the girls got the garden planted on Sunday. They tried doing some upside down tomato plants, so hopefully those turn out well.

Brynn and I saw this cute idea on Pinterest so she made these garden markers by painting rocks.

Not sure exactly what was transpiring here. Happy Halloween?

Clara asked me to make waffles for breakfast one morning, so waffles we had!

Brynn found a recipe in Clara's cookbook for pudding pops. They taste just like the ones I used to love growing up; the ones that had vanilla, chocolate and swirl all in the same box. The vanilla ones tasted good, but chocolate was always my fav, so I'd like to see  how a chocolate recipe might turn out too.

Oh, these two. 💓💓 They've really been pals these past two weeks. Clara loves riding around on her four-wheeler or hitching a ride with Dad. I love watching them tear around out the window while I'm working. He was fixing her pony tail for her in this pic.

Dana put up this art hanger wire that I had bought a long time ago. It's a fun way to display their pieces.

These two had a slumber party in the basement the other night. It must have gone well because Clara didn't wake up until 9:00 the next morning! I think that might be the latest she's ever slept. Who knows what time it was when she finally fell asleep though.

The next morning when I went down to check on her it looked like a small tornado had blown through their camp site. Not sure what happened, but it didn't seem to bother her any.

I had realized the other day that I had never developed any of our Disney/Universal pics for the girls to put in their autograph albums. So, I finally got an order placed and they arrived on Wednesday. They had fun sorting through the photos and getting them into the books.

I think Brynn said she was going to scrapbook some of hers.

We were cracking up last night because I was so chilly and had to have my winter coat and hat on when Brynn and I went for a walk. It really wasn't all that cold, as evidenced with Brynn's short sleeves! I did warm up a bit more once we got going.

Quarantine hair, don't care! We love Dana's long, fluffy mane. I told him he should just keep it going.

I don't even know why I was allowing, much less encouraging, this disaster by snapping pics at dinner tonight.

Clara had to take a break to shovel in some broccoli.

We've been playing soccer almost every night this week. It started just Clara and me last week and then Brynn has joined in this week, and finally Dad tonight.

Clara has been wanting to try a bunch of different sports, one of which was soccer, so I had signed her up for a sports sampler this summer. Hopefully she still gets to do it.

When the girls are on a team together they are the Gorilllas.

Their victory cry goes something like this "I'm still standin'...yeah, yeah, yeah." (Yes, the Elton John song) "Gooorilla! Whoo, whoo, whoo!" while they beat their chests. :-)

Getting some wiggles out before our game tonight, I guess.

Brynn is supposed to do an hour of exercise four times a week for her PE class. She sometimes struggles to come up with ideas, but has been counting our walks and soccer games and she's been taking off on her bike for some rides too.

She is still enjoying her new schedule for school, but misses family and friends. It's looking like we'll keep Clara home with us through May, and then starting in June we were all set to have a nanny for the summer, so hopefully they will still be able to participate in all the activities that I signed them up for. We're just still take things a week at a time for now.

No word yet on when I might be asked to return to from working at home...hopefully never. Ha! I love it.

Stay safe, everyone!

Oh my, another fantastic post! Brynn inspired Reagan & Elise to write a bundle full of letters to some of their favorite actors, authors, etc. I hope Brynn gets a response and maybe someone the girls wrote to, too! Great job trash picking, girls! That reminds me of picking ditches for 4-H. A job well done, ladies. The Top Gun movie outing looked like so much fun. I love the garden markers. I've seen that idea on the interwebs before and always wanted to do it. Yours turned out great! Lots of quality time for Dana & Clara. Great memories. I love their soccer team pics :)

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Easter + April Birthdays

The girls had Thursday, Friday and Monday off from school for the Easter break. So, Dana and I took most of the same time off (work) to match.  Always reading. 💜 Hanging out with Brynn. 💗 Dana and I went on a Costco date. We tried our hand at homemade ravioli again. I think it went a bit more smoothly compared to last time. Hubert's sister Abby stopped by for a visit. We hadn't seen her in a long time and so it was fun to have her We celebrated Dana's birthday and kicked it off with some Sandy's donuts. I don't recall what was so funny. haha. Clara's card. Birthday King Clara dyed eggs. I baked a birthday cake for Dana, messed it up getting it out of the pans, and Clara somehow cobbled it together into a masterpiece. Dana chose Lucky 13's for dinner out. On Saturday we packed up to hit up Oliver's birthday party before we went on to Dead Lake for Easter. Oliver is 9! January + Valentine's Day + CATS!

We ARE still alive over here and have not frozen to death. Here's what we've been up to for the past month and a half! Brynn and Hubert at the OG (Olive Garden): 'Lady and the Tramp' style. haha. Taking in a Force game...with extra fighting. It was very exciting. One Sunday when Clara was at a sleepover, the three of us went to Black Coffee Waffle Bar after church and then for some crepes and boba at Tea & Crepe. Then Brynn and I went prom dress shopping which was really fun. She did find a dress she loves so that was a relief. This is not the one she chose, but she tried on quite a few nice ones. Clara made crowns for the king and I (me). Clara had to write an essay to be considered for the robotics team at school. She waited for at least a couple of weeks to learn if she was accepted, and unfortunately was not. She was pretty disappointed, but she does have a chance to reapply next year when she's a fifth grader, and won't have to write another essay. I th...
