My Birthday

And there goes another quarantine birthday. Not all was lost, though; I had a great day celebrating turning 39.

Earlier in the week, Clara and Daddy were busy baking cookie dough cupcakes in anticipation of my birthday.

This was surprising as Daddy isn't usually one for tasting. ;-)

Brynn was more interested in decorating, so she let Daddy and Clara take the lead on baking and she swooped in to frost. I had run some errands on Saturday and came home to find that not only did they decorate the cupcakes, but what you see here is another full-on chocolate cake! They had an extra cake mix and frosting, so they baked a whole other cake and frosted that too. Whew!

I see there was a piece missing already; I probably ate it.

My morning exercise group surprised me with a Sandy's delivery in the morning. Everyone was pretty excited about that.

Dana had already planned to get me my fav, bacon breakfast pizza from Casey's. I feel full now just typing about all this food!

My parents stopped by for a social distancing birthday party in the garage. We set out the cupcakes so they could enjoy a birthday treat with us too.

And then I plopped myself down on the couch later in the afternoon and started a movie...all alone. It was glorious. I watched that until Dana came home with my Red Lobster birthday dinner.

Mmm, the cupcakes were super tasty!

I received some very nice gifts of homemade jewelry and a decorative garland.

Thank you for all the birthday wishes and cards and gifts! The end of my 30s is off to a pretty good start so far!

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Reagan Graduation + MDW + Tennis

This past weekend our oldest niece, Reagan, graduated high school. She will be attending UND for nursing in the fall. We're so proud of you and love you so much, Reagan!   Cousin Cayden had his Italian soda bar set up at the party which was super fun and a big hit. She opened a few gifts the night before her commencement. Reagan is the third generation to graduate from Harvey High as my mom and her dad, Chad also attended there. This was such a fun gift idea that Tessa put together from her and Chad. We got back home Sunday evening and between the four of us doing different things, spent most of Memorial Day outside. It was such beautiful weather. Brynn and I played tennis and Dana and Clara replaced some shrubs and did yardwork. The tennis season has wrapped up for Brynn now. She's sad to not be playing anymore, but still gets some court time between playing with friends and sometimes Clara and/or me. We're so proud of her and glad she played again this year. I had taken s...
