One of my favorite things about working from home is having more time in the mornings. After my group exercise class over Zoom, I usually have time to go for about a two-mile walk, if it's nice enough outside. One morning the sunrise was so pretty near the cemetery.
Clara tagged along with me one morning and we noticed how the area flowing into this pond in Briarwood had dried up quite a bit.
She was cracking me up carrying this branch on her back like it was a log.
Clara loves still being at home with all of us all day every day and still says that she prefers it that way, but also misses her friends too. She was able to video chat with one of her best buddies from preschool, Cade, this past week. He was pretty antsy pantsy while he was talking to Clara, so I think Clara thought maybe he wasn't that into chatting. But then later that evening his mom messaged me that at bedtime Cade was getting teary-eyed because he wants to see Clara at preschool again.
He will also be starting Kindergarten in the fall and will be done at preschool at the end of May as Clara had planned as well. So, hopefully once we're able to be face-to-face with people again, they can get together to play.
I talked to Brynn's orthodontist this week as she is on her last set of Invisalign. Her last appointment was cancelled since the dentist and ortho clinics were closed until just recently. They said that now she'll just wear her Invisalign as a retainer at night only. So, she's pretty excited about that. We have been so pleased with this whole process. I thought I'd do a little before and after. I'm happy that it seemed to be a lot less painful than braces and we were amazed at how much progress she made in what seemed like such a short amount of time. She first got them just this past August. She may need to have another round again later on depending on what happens when she loses more teeth.
Today! :-) (These pics were taken about a year apart and not only have her teeth changed dramatically, but she looks like she aged about four years!)
Brynn has been doing a fantastic job baby-sitting Clara in the afternoons and during the day on Friday.
We had a busy, but great day yesterday. I got some cleaning done around the house, Clara relaxed and we hunted wolves together and made a fort...oh and baked cookies.
Brynn rode with me to the grocery store, but just stayed in the car. I think she thought it was nice just to get out for a bit.
Brynn performed surgery on Clara's giraffe. He had a gash that needed some stiches.
Brynn took this pic on her phone while we were doing our virtual game night last night with Weckerlys and my parents.
I had a special and wonderful Mother's Day starting with brunch that we made after we did church from our couch. I had always wanted to make crepes, but I think I was intimidated by them and thought they were really tricky to make or something like that. Turns out they were actually pretty simple, and really tasty, I thought. I would definitely make them again. Dana thought they were pretty sweet, Brynn really liked them and Clara didn't want to try one. The recipe I made had a mascarpone cheese and yogurt filling. And then we use raspberries for the fruit.
The girls wanted to make cinnamon rolls again, like the cinnibunnies we made for Easter. So, they shaped these into hearts this time for Mother's Day. And Dana made me a mimosa. Delish!
Everyone pitched in to clean up and I never lifted a finger to do anything all day today!
We video chatted with Holly to wish her a happy mother's day, though it wasn't nearly the same as being in person. The girls can't wait to get to the lake and check out the new cabin and stay with Grandpa and Grandma.
My parents stopped through again today and we were able to give my mom her cards and such and since my dad's birthday is tomorrow as well, we were able to wish him a happy birthday in person.
I snuck in a nap and Dana picked up pizza for dinner and then I opened some gifts.
Clara told me to smell the bouquet. Ha.

Dana did a nice post for Mother's Day on Facebook, so I thought I'd share it on the blog. We love all our moms and grandmothers and are missing those who are no longer with us. 💓
