Yesterday I took Brynn to school so she could turn in her personal learning device and pick up her personal items from her pod and gym lockers that school staff had collected for all the students to retrieve. They weren't allowed into the school so the bags of stuff were just marked with the students' names outside, waiting for them in their grade section.
Since Brynn submits quite a few assignments online, even before distance learning, she didn't have too much for papers and such. And we had really tried to encourage her to go through her papers in her backpack often throughout the year.
It sure was a different feeling ending the school year this way. Brynn was hoping she'd be able to see a few of her teachers while she was there, but I think she only saw her P.E. teacher.
A couple of staff were giving well wishes for the summer as we left the parking lot. I shouted out to her to hold up her sign so I could take a picture and that we missed them all too. Brynn was mortified. :-)
She did get her ceramic art project back, though.
I liked his teeth.
Today the girls were busy organizing the Play-doh and making some cool creations.
We still did our end of school ice cream treat tonight, though I was the only one who went into the store to get the ice cream and bring it out to the car. It still tasted good !
Since yesterday was reserved for picking up and dropping off at the school, Brynn didn't have any classes. And then today she didn't either since she had already turned in her PLD and all. So, really her actual last day seemed to be Tuesday. But, today we still did our last-day-of-school pic. I always like to compare the first to the last day. I know these last couple months seemed long for so many people with all the pandemic craziness, but it looks like the school year was about three years long with the difference in these photos!
Clara is officially done at Hope now. We still need to retrieve the rest of her things next week, though we can't actually enter the preschool room or area. We hope to come back later on when Clara can say a proper good-bye to her friends.
I am officially scheduled to return to my office to work on Monday while Dana will continue to work from home at least through June. Our nanny, Ryann, starts on Monday as well and the girls can't wait! Thankfully we learned this week that the Fargo public pools will be open this summer, so at least they'll be able to swim and Clara can still do her swimming lessons at the Island Park pool. They've already made a list of things they want to do with Ryann this summer.
Speaking of, we made our summer bucket list as a family the other night, so now we're really ready! This year our lists includes:
- Clara riding bike without her training wheels
- Going to Scoop-n-Dough
- Going to Zorbaz
- Picking strawberries at Herzog's
- Family movie slumber party in the basement
- Kayak on the Red River
- Go back and visit Bonanzaville and hopefully see more than we were able to when it was freezing cold the last time we went.
Here's to a great summer ahead considering the unusual circumstances.
