Last weekend the girls asked to go stay at Grandpa and Grandma Froemmings' lake, so Dana met up with Holly to get them on their way. Holly sent me some pics from their weekend:
Clara and Grandpa had a pretty successful time of fishing.
And she even learned how to clean the fish she caught!
Last year we transplanted the rhubarb that was up by the house in our landscaping and put it over in the garden. I was worried it wasn't going to make it, but we are getting some that has come up this year. Clara is my helper - she assisted in picking it and then we cut it up to freeze together. I love anything rhubarb and am just trying to decide what I want to make with it now.
I am almost out of the homemade vanilla extract that Christel gave me a couple of years ago, so per direction from her, I got another batch going.
Brynn downloaded a language app on her new phone and has been learning Spanish. :-)
The girls' nanny, Ryann, started with us this past week. Dana is still working from home and I had my full first week back at the office. It really stinks having to wear real clothes again and the days away from home seem long. The girls have been having fun with Ryann and she even introduced them to geocaching.
We were looking and looking and finally, not really knowing what I was looking for, I spied this in the trunk of a tree.
Brynn was excited. :-)
Inspecting the contents.
Also in the containers are sheets of paper chronicling the names and dates of others who have found the geocaches before. The most recent person to find this one was at the end of April. I think the first one for this one was 2013.
Brynn was still itching to find more on Saturday morning, so she rode her bike up North University on the bike path to find another one she identified. Here is the sheet that explains more about geocaching. Brynn said she found this one right away.
I had heard of geocaching several years back, but didn't fully understand what it was, and I didn't know if people were doing it really anymore. There is a sheet that was in one of the containers that explains more about it later on down in the post, so I won't go into detail here. But, Brynn downloaded an app on her phone to see if there were any close by our house.
Brynn located one just on the other side of Briarwood, right next to the pet cemetery. So, Friday night I headed out with them on our bikes in search of one.
Ryann and the girls had located one right across the street from our house, on the other side of University in a tree. However, they weren't able to get it open. So, Brynn wanted to try it again on our way back. She was able to get it this time. It was a smaller one, so it just had the note of names and dates in there.
Yesterday we went out to visit my parents at their lake place and the girls stayed the night.
Yesterday also marked 20 years since Dana and I went on our first date...to Burger King. :-) Which is funny because we've hardly ever been to BK since then. Ha. I've always loved this pic of us from our college days in Fergus. We were in my on-campus apartment here, the summer we started dating.
