The Start of Summer

Summer is off to a great start over here. The girls have been having fun with their nanny, Ryann. Here's some of what we've been up to the past week.

Clara really hates going to bed...I know, real shocker for someone her age! One night last week she was supposed to get ready for bed, but instead snuck an apple from the fridge and headed out to the garage to hide out talking to Dad. It sure took her a long time to eat that apple. :-/ I just hate calling the girls into the house for bed when it's so nice on these summer nights. And now finally this summer they can sleep in and I don't have to wake anyone up to be dropped off at day camp or preschool/daycare. So I find myself being more lax on bed time.

I tried to share the face mask that my mom made for me with Brynn, but it was a little bit too big for her. hehe.

The Red River Valley Fair Association started showing drive-in movies several times per week at the fairgrounds. Brynn and I went to the live action 'Lion King' movie last Monday night. It was a beautiful night for it.

On Tuesday Ryann took the girls to the zoo. They ended up getting rained on, but I don't think they minded too much. I just now noticed this huge turtle (tortoise?) behind them in this first pic. Ha!

On Wednesday the girls went to the lake to spend a few days with Grandpa and Grandma Froemming.

Clara video chatting with Adria on Sunday.

Last week Clara started her sports sampler program through Fargo Parks. She seemed to like it okay the first day which was baseball/t-ball. She failed to mention to me (she told Dad, though, which is how I found out) that she got a home run!

Her enthusiasm had fizzled out already by Wednesday. (She goes just on Mondays and Wednesday). That day was supposed to be soccer. It was a bit cooler that day and Brynn reported via Ryann that she didn't participate all that much. And then Clara told me about every day thereafter how she didn't want to go back. :-(

However, Brynn tagged along today for moral sister support and that really seemed to help. Brynn kindly thought to take pictures for me. She had a lot more fun doing track and field today, so that was great news.

Tonight Daddy and Clara took in the drive-in movie together. They were playing the live action 'Aladdin' movie this time.

Brynn and I went for a walk while they were gone.

It sounds like tomorrow they're headed to the pool which sounds like a good day for that.

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Christmas 2025/New Years 2026

Christmas gift wrapping shenanigans: Keeping Brynn company while she wraps all of our Christmas gifts. Brynn and I couldn't help but peek at the 150 Famous Poems book we gave to Clara. So many good ones. Getting into the holiday spirit at Courts Plus. Ha! Christmas eve brunch. Clara's gingerbread house contest strategy notes. Contestants were allowed 20 minutes to shop for their houses at Wal-mart. We left ourselves little time to get ready for the 3:00 Christmas eve service at our church. But, we made it and thankfully didn't have to sit in the overflow area in the chapel! It was a beautiful service. We had bit more time in between church and when we planned to leave for Tessa's, so I mixed up my eggnog and we got the car packed. Tessa's family hosted Christmas eve at their lake home. We had a great mix of people to play a game of Mind the Gap. Getting cookies ready for Santa. Clara got Dana and me up around 7:30 and we watched her open her stocking. I think Dana a...
