The beginning of 2022

Big sister helping little sister get a hair tie out of her hair.

With the extremely cold temperatures we've been having lately, the kids had a delayed start to school one day and ended up with no school on Friday.

So, I worked from home both of those days. Clara kept herself busy by holding school for her stuffed animal friends.

Getting ready to head out to shovel off the deck.

We are registering for high school over here! Ack! It was really interesting going through the different course options as even at a high school level for public education, they have some really fun and tailored choices, from art to business, photography, graphic design and engineering.

Clara started winter (indoor!) soccer on Saturday. She'll have practice on Thursdays and then a game on every Saturday from now through February.

Brynn made chocolate chip scones yesterday and they turned out amazingly.

Brynn and I went to the Arch Allies concert at the Fargo Theater last night. They're a tribute band for classic rock songs. It was fun!

We got to meet one of the two lead singers after the show, and he even sang happy birthday to Brynn!

The pic of me with Dennis. hahaha.

Haha great photo, man :) Looks like you guys had great seats. Wow, that is so neat how many options they have for high school courses. I'm excited to hear what Brynn selected. I bet Clara is stoked to be back in soccer. Maybe we can make it to a game!

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Christmas 2025/New Years 2026

Christmas gift wrapping shenanigans: Keeping Brynn company while she wraps all of our Christmas gifts. Brynn and I couldn't help but peek at the 150 Famous Poems book we gave to Clara. So many good ones. Getting into the holiday spirit at Courts Plus. Ha! Christmas eve brunch. Clara's gingerbread house contest strategy notes. Contestants were allowed 20 minutes to shop for their houses at Wal-mart. We left ourselves little time to get ready for the 3:00 Christmas eve service at our church. But, we made it and thankfully didn't have to sit in the overflow area in the chapel! It was a beautiful service. We had bit more time in between church and when we planned to leave for Tessa's, so I mixed up my eggnog and we got the car packed. Tessa's family hosted Christmas eve at their lake home. We had a great mix of people to play a game of Mind the Gap. Getting cookies ready for Santa. Clara got Dana and me up around 7:30 and we watched her open her stocking. I think Dana a...
