Christmas in July + Mid-summer + Chicago

One night last week, around 1:00 AM (of course, always in the middle of the night!), what we thought was one of our smoke detector's batteries had died. Dana must have searched each room and detector for 20-30 minutes before he had to just give it up and get back to bed.

So the beeping continued all day long and I felt so bad for anyone left in the house to listen to that! Ugh. Dana bought new batteries on his way home and replaced every single one...and the beeping/chirping continued.

Finally he offered up $10 to the first person to figure out where the noise was coming from. Clara asked if it was 'this thing' in the hallway. Indeed our battery backup on the carbon monoxide detector had died. Uff! Thanks, Clara! :-)

Dana was able to snap a pic of Brynn hard at work when he picked her up from work and ordered a custard treat.

Clara was invited to Adria's for an overnight to celebrate her 8th birthday. Happy birthday, Adria! We love you. Darrel, Adria's dad and coincidentally birthday buddy as well, took them out on the town to Cherry Berry and Space Aliens.

The following morning I picked Clara up and we joined Dana and Brynn who were already at Dead Lake for the Froemming Family Christmas in July get-together. It was a beautiful day and we had so much good food. It was good to see everyone who was able to make it.

Clara was excited to get her turtle meat fix.

I was only able to stay for a couple of hours before I needed to head back to Fargo for my childhood friend's wedding.

It was a beautiful ceremony and reception. Soon after dinner they got the dance underway and started pulling people onto the dance floor. Brandon grabbed me and said 'it's like Prom '96!'

...this is what he meant. :-) We attended our first prom together as Freshmen in HS in 1996. A long time ago!

Brynn sent this to me from the lake. :-)

Clara got her hair trimmed by Grandma Holly.

Clara stayed at the lake for a few extra days while Brynn and Dana came back to Fargo. After the wedding, I had to fly out early Sunday morning to Chicago for a trade show that we were exhibiting at for work.

Love these pics Holly sent me of her stay...

This was sure a nice keeper!

Back home in Fargo.

Then Clara was off again...this time to Casselton to spend a couple of nights at Prairie Joy's house.

Meanwhile, my trip to Chicago was great and our trade show was a success. We were able to walk down to the pier and along the riverwalk in the evenings, and I jogged/walked in the mornings in the same area before I had to head over to the expo.

Every Wednesday and Saturday night I guess they set off fireworks over the pier. It was super fun to take in.

Then my boss and I stopped for Crumbl cookies on our walk back to the hotel. It was my first time trying them and they were so good!

It was great to get back home yesterday. I didn't unpack much as we are getting ready to fly out for our family vacation to the Outer Banks in North Carolina tomorrow!

But first, someone's birthday is soon approaching and The Mandalorian is ready to party!

Workin' girl! Brynn looks like she's doing a great job! Fun birthday celebration with Adria. Love the pic from Brandon's wedding and the throwback - couple of kids! I didn't realize Clara spent the night at Prairie's - good times! Love Chicago - great pics.

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Reagan Graduation + MDW + Tennis

This past weekend our oldest niece, Reagan, graduated high school. She will be attending UND for nursing in the fall. We're so proud of you and love you so much, Reagan!   Cousin Cayden had his Italian soda bar set up at the party which was super fun and a big hit. She opened a few gifts the night before her commencement. Reagan is the third generation to graduate from Harvey High as my mom and her dad, Chad also attended there. This was such a fun gift idea that Tessa put together from her and Chad. We got back home Sunday evening and between the four of us doing different things, spent most of Memorial Day outside. It was such beautiful weather. Brynn and I played tennis and Dana and Clara replaced some shrubs and did yardwork. The tennis season has wrapped up for Brynn now. She's sad to not be playing anymore, but still gets some court time between playing with friends and sometimes Clara and/or me. We're so proud of her and glad she played again this year. I had taken s...
