Valentine's, Sledding + February Things

Here we are, already half way through February! Here's a snippet of what's been happenin'...

Brynn's latest prayer journaling art. I thought this one was really cool. I actually preferred the beginning image of this one.

We love when we can be out sledding and don't even need our coats.

I think she was pretending to be a tiger or wolf or something bearing its teeth at me. Or what teeth this beast has remaining. ;-)

Clara landed on a candy butterfly valentine design for her class treats. We had fun putting these together...until we ran out of M&Ms and I had to run back to the store for more.

They were so cute!

Brynn so kindly made a batch of amazing chocolate-covered strawberries for some Valentine's treat boxes I was putting together for a fundraiser for our United Way campaign at work. Both girls helped fill the boxes. I love how they came together.

In mid-March I'll be heading to Anaheim again for one of our bigger trade shows of the year. Dana opted out of his annual snowmobiling trip that he's gone on the past few years and the timing happens to coincide with the girls' spring break from school, so the fam is going to fly out once I'm done working the trade show to do Disneyland and have a beach day (we're thinking Long Beach). Brynn put together this very helpful slide presentation of all the Disney attractions so we could start planning the trip.

Clara colored a picture of the manger and baby Jesus.

It seemed like such a Christmastime drawing which reminded me of one of our fav Clara videos. Please enjoy this throwback video of Clara that we all think of and quote often. She was 'reading' a Christmas card that Grandma Darlene had sent to her, saying "Jesus! Jesus! Jesus! Mary and Joseph were pregnant." But, 'pregnant' came out 'penguinant.' hehe. So cute. She was three.

The girls didn't have school on Friday and are off on Monday as well. Dana took Friday off and got some errands and shopping done with these two. They had a yummy lunch at Panera.

They surprised me and brought me flowers at my office. At the time they came, I was in the middle of a highly important and confidential meeting...aka eating angel food cake to celebrate my co-worker's birthday. :-) While I was cleaning up from that, Dana and Brynn were in my office. I even told Clara that I was nervous how long they had been in there, left to their own devices.  I was right to be concerned. They had changed my background photo on my computer and taken a bunch of photos with my phone. And ate my chocolates. Stinkers.

We've been meaning to get to the library lately and just haven't made it there. So Saturday morning we got going and were there when they opened at 9:00. Both girls found some books to check out.

Then we came home and Brynn woke Dad up. :-) Well, he said he was already awake, but she was trying to pounce on him and exclaim that it was time to get up the way he sometimes does to her.

We had planned to hit up Detroit Mountain for skiing and tubing yesterday, so we were glad the weather cooperated for us. My parents met us out there and hung out while Brynn and I skied and Dana and Clara tubed.

Clara was invited to stay at Grandpa and Grandma Dietz's lake until they come back through on Monday. I suspected she might be doing some sewing whilst she's there. 💜

Oh my, so much good stuff! Brynn art is just fantastic; she is so talented. Very cute valentines - both Clara's and the United Way ones. So excited you guys are going to Disney and I love Brynn's trip planner tendencies - a girl after my own heart. Great throwback video of Clara! I had forgotten about that one. Bahaha, the photos from your office are great. Glad you guys made it over to Detroit Mtn!

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Halloween 2025

Happy Halloween! We did trick-or-treating at my office again and celebrated National Cat Day a couple of days late. Unicorn making magic happen! The kids and Freddy. We got a little bit of a late start around 7:30. We went to a neighborhood near the high school where several of Clara's friends live. We stopped at Micah's house to say hi and another schoolmate happened to be over as well. We got to visiting too long and by the time we headed back out, some houses either had run out of candy (including Micah's, where they went through 600 pieces his mom said) or were already done for the night. But, we still got around to several. It had just gotten done raining and the wind was cold, so I didn't care to be out too long myself. Clara asked to have another post-Halloween party this year and Brynn planned and executed the whole thing. One of our fav parts was the missing children posters which were all the guests. Green Army Man, Clara Barton, Luna Lovegood (from Harry Pott...

Christmas 2025/New Years 2026

Christmas gift wrapping shenanigans: Keeping Brynn company while she wraps all of our Christmas gifts. Brynn and I couldn't help but peek at the 150 Famous Poems book we gave to Clara. So many good ones. Getting into the holiday spirit at Courts Plus. Ha! Christmas eve brunch. Clara's gingerbread house contest strategy notes. Contestants were allowed 20 minutes to shop for their houses at Wal-mart. We left ourselves little time to get ready for the 3:00 Christmas eve service at our church. But, we made it and thankfully didn't have to sit in the overflow area in the chapel! It was a beautiful service. We had bit more time in between church and when we planned to leave for Tessa's, so I mixed up my eggnog and we got the car packed. Tessa's family hosted Christmas eve at their lake home. We had a great mix of people to play a game of Mind the Gap. Getting cookies ready for Santa. Clara got Dana and me up around 7:30 and we watched her open her stocking. I think Dana a...
