Clara's already had a busy start to the summer. She has begun her tennis lessons through Fargo Parks (same as she's done the past couple of years) and I signed her up for a volleyball camp put on by Davies VB coaches and players, which she is loving after only one session. And she's taking summer piano lessons.
She's already taken advantage of getting herself around on her bike and hung out with Micah between our two houses.
Last week which was the first full week of her summer vacation was VBX at church. This was the last year she could attend and she admitted she did feel her age, especially since the youngest age in attendance starts at three years old. Hopefully she'll volunteer next year, but she's not too into looking after younger children. Anyhoo, this year's theme was space which I thought was going to be really cool for her, but it turned out to be more of a Dr. Seuss vibe.
I had to make it in time for the confetti bomb, obvi.
We have Izabell's wedding coming up over Father's Day weekend, so we went to my parents' for an early celebration with dinner out and hanging out at the lake for an afternoon/evening. The girls did some drawing while we were there. I had intended to get a picture of at least my dad and me, but totally forgot. :(
Next up for Clara was her first time at sleepaway camp at Inspiration Point. Dana said he went as a child, but they've since changed their location and put up all new buildings, etc. We could write letters to leave for the staff to deliver to Clara during her time there.
We dropped her off this past Sunday and I picked her up this morning (Thursday). Micah was also there at the same time, but they didn't see too much of each other. In fact, it was a good thing for me that Micah's mom was texting with me about pick-up because I had the incorrect day and had planned to go on Friday morning! Ugh! So glad that worked out!
The cabins were super nice and new!
When I pulled up I was chuckling at all the campers' stuff piled up and ready to go....which I did appreciate!
She said she had a really fun time and her favorite thing was the Gaslamp Theatre and most of the food was good. But, they had to wake up around 7:00-7:30 each morning. They kept them busy with fun activities during the day and so once things quieted down at night, she said she did get homesick - I think just one night, though, she said. She's pretty tuckered out now, but she can sleep in as late as she wants tomorrow morning at least. It sounds like she got along well with all of the other girls in her cabin and they exchanged some info before we left so they could still stay in contact somehow.
