The End

Here we are: at the end of Brynn's high school career and Clara is done with elementary school.

Brynn submitted her last assignment ever. What a great feeling!

Seniors were allowed to decorate their caps for the first time this year, with prior approval. Brynn worked really hard on hers and it turned out so beautifully!

On Monday the seniors were bussed to the elementary schools they attended to walk through the halls one last time. Brynn's principal had his last year at the school when it was also Brynn's last year in elementary. He was just the best. Brynn said Mr. Reznecheck showed up for the walk-through. It was so sweet and touching that he came.

I had to include of my fav pics of him. I think the kids did a fundraiser or something and he had said if they raised a certain amount, he would put his desk up on the roof for the day. Sure enough. Haha.

Back on the bus just like old times.

They made a stop at the middle school too, but I don't think anyone was as excited for that one.

Clara's Gifted and Talented Services teacher, Mrs. Warner, is another amazing school staff member. Clara is really going to miss her. Mrs. Warner had to share the unfortunate news with us recently that they will be eliminating Gifted and Talented Services at the middle school where Clara is attending next year. So, that was disappointing, but hopefully Clara will still challenge herself with her literacy.

Mrs. Warner had put some photos together of each of her students to keep. I snapped some groupings of my favs.

The were able to take a field trip to NDSU which is what this first grouping is mostly from.

Brynn's last day of regular classes was Wednesday. I amazed myself really holding it together taking these!
First Day | Last Day

Clara's last day was today. She and I walked to school as it was a beautiful morning.

The school always does a clap-out for the fifth-graders at dismissal on the last day. The students and their families gathered in the gymnasium and then went through the halls where the rest of the grades and staff were lined up giving high fives and cheers, clapping them out. It was so fun.

Mr. Pederson was Clara's second grade teacher who moved up to fifth grade this year and she was so disappointed that she wasn't in his class again. But, she would still visit quite a bit with him as his classroom was right next door to hers and they would chat at recess time and all that.

So sad. :-(

We had to get one last pic with Mrs. Warner. I think I forgot to say above that she invited all of her students out to her farm for a visit this summer. We just reach out to her via e-mail and get it set up with her for a time when we'd like to come.

That's a wrap on elementary school for Clara! She did enjoy her time at this school and she had many great teachers.

We came home and all four of us worked to put a tent up for Brynn's grad party and then headed to Bear Creek Winery where Blackbird Woodfire Pizza had a pop-up tent. It sure hit the spot. Two of my favs! And then Brynn took Clara to pick up Scoop-N-Dough and they brought some back for me. :-)

Dana and I rode over in the side-by-side and Brynn brought Clara in her car.

A fantastic ending to their high school and elementary years! We are ready to celebrate Brynn's graduation this weekend. 🎓🎉

The countdown is almost over.

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Halloween 2025

Happy Halloween! We did trick-or-treating at my office again and celebrated National Cat Day a couple of days late. Unicorn making magic happen! The kids and Freddy. We got a little bit of a late start around 7:30. We went to a neighborhood near the high school where several of Clara's friends live. We stopped at Micah's house to say hi and another schoolmate happened to be over as well. We got to visiting too long and by the time we headed back out, some houses either had run out of candy (including Micah's, where they went through 600 pieces his mom said) or were already done for the night. But, we still got around to several. It had just gotten done raining and the wind was cold, so I didn't care to be out too long myself. Clara asked to have another post-Halloween party this year and Brynn planned and executed the whole thing. One of our fav parts was the missing children posters which were all the guests. Green Army Man, Clara Barton, Luna Lovegood (from Harry Pott...

Christmas 2025/New Years 2026

Christmas gift wrapping shenanigans: Keeping Brynn company while she wraps all of our Christmas gifts. Brynn and I couldn't help but peek at the 150 Famous Poems book we gave to Clara. So many good ones. Getting into the holiday spirit at Courts Plus. Ha! Christmas eve brunch. Clara's gingerbread house contest strategy notes. Contestants were allowed 20 minutes to shop for their houses at Wal-mart. We left ourselves little time to get ready for the 3:00 Christmas eve service at our church. But, we made it and thankfully didn't have to sit in the overflow area in the chapel! It was a beautiful service. We had bit more time in between church and when we planned to leave for Tessa's, so I mixed up my eggnog and we got the car packed. Tessa's family hosted Christmas eve at their lake home. We had a great mix of people to play a game of Mind the Gap. Getting cookies ready for Santa. Clara got Dana and me up around 7:30 and we watched her open her stocking. I think Dana a...
