Brynn's Family Birthday Party

Saturday we kept with the art theme and celebrated Brynn's birthday with her family party. The roads were really icy, but thankfully most who were planning on coming made it to our house. Brynn requested pizza and since she doesn't care for cake, we thought it would be fun to do an ice cream sundae bar. She loves ice cream. And who doesn't love ice cream when it's 10 degrees outside? :-)

Thank you to everyone who came and for those who gave gifts! She spent the day on Sunday playing with all the fun things she got. And more of that today, as she was off of school for "Martin Lutheran King and Junior" day, as she calls it. Ha.

Thank you to my sister for some of the pictures below!

We displayed some of her artwork that she's done in the window. She was really excited for her tie-dye balloons.

I swear she has grown a foot since turning 7. :-( So grown up now.

She has been pining for this Play-doh dentist set for awhile. It is pretty fun actually.

Look out, Grandpa!

Bottoms up

Patty cake with Grandma

Project in progress here. Nothing a little duct tape couldn't take care of. Brynn was busy making a car for her pets and needed the seat to stay in place.

"Pests only" or Pets Only, rather. :-)

I don't think you have a real childhood unless you have sat inside a cardboard box for fun.

These are getting a little out of order here, but just some miscellany from the previous week.

This little stinker caused a monsoon in the kitchen tonight. She was getting pretty rambunctious for the infant tub... and big, so I thought I would try to bathe her in the sink. I don't think we'll be doing the sink route again! We were all so soaking wet by the end. You can see how wet just my sweatshirt is in this picture. Here is video of her trying to swim her way out of the sink. Crazy girl...

Crazy Clara in the sink

Clara is finally feeling better now. Once her fever broke last Sunday she seemed to be on the mend. Now she's just had a stuffy/sniffle nose and lingering cough, both of which are improving.
I had her to the walk-in clinic last Monday. This mask lasted all of about five minutes.

Sleepy snuggles with Dad.

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Reagan Graduation + MDW + Tennis

This past weekend our oldest niece, Reagan, graduated high school. She will be attending UND for nursing in the fall. We're so proud of you and love you so much, Reagan!   Cousin Cayden had his Italian soda bar set up at the party which was super fun and a big hit. She opened a few gifts the night before her commencement. Reagan is the third generation to graduate from Harvey High as my mom and her dad, Chad also attended there. This was such a fun gift idea that Tessa put together from her and Chad. We got back home Sunday evening and between the four of us doing different things, spent most of Memorial Day outside. It was such beautiful weather. Brynn and I played tennis and Dana and Clara replaced some shrubs and did yardwork. The tennis season has wrapped up for Brynn now. She's sad to not be playing anymore, but still gets some court time between playing with friends and sometimes Clara and/or me. We're so proud of her and glad she played again this year. I had taken s...
