Lake Weekend

We had a fun weekend at Dead Lake with some of our friends we invited out with their kids. Brynn played really nicely with the littler kids even though she was quite a few years older than the rest. It was a pretty busy day, but we all had a good time. Brynn scraped up the bottom of her foot pretty badly while swimming. Brynn really took to this older neighbor guy, Russ. She went over to visit him any chance she got. I  never was really over there with her to know, but can only imagine how many questions she must have asked him. She and Grandpa went over to bring him some food on Saturday. She's still talking about him. Clara and Chris drawing. Brynn got to sleep with Grandpa Watching Brynn's shows with the same 'tv watching face.' ;-)  Brynn soaking her sliced foot and drawing a picture of Sponge Bob. At the end of the lake cabin road, up popped a book share library. Brynn found a fun craft book and then br

First Day of Second Grade

First day of second grade was a success! And for the first year so far, no tears from anyone! I held myself together pretty well. She gave me a BIG hug before I left her classroom this morning, and that was hard, but mostly I was just glad she was so excited. We had to make time for our first-day-of-school photos this morning, of course.  New kicks, new backpack - ready to go. Typical first-day chaos! Brynn talking to Braeden, a friend she knows from Hope who is also in her class this year. We brought a few things from her list to the school ahead of time on back to school night, but I think next year maybe we'll just bring everything so that she has more of a chance to get all her stuff put away and organized. Ms. Jarvis and Brynn She was so excited, but still held my hand almost the entire time from the car into the classroom. Talking to her friend Melissa.

Back-to-School Night and Clara's One Year Pics

Last night Brynn was able to meet her teacher for this year and check out her classroom for second grade. As I mentioned in my last update, she was not excited about starting school at all. I figured once she was able to see how nice her teacher is (I guess I was just assuming there) and see the classroom and who her classmates were going to be, she would feel more excited. Thankfully that was just the case! This is her teacher, Ms. Jarvis', first year at Centennial and her second year teaching. She did seem very nice and excited to be teaching the group of second graders. Brynn was glad to see familiar faces and friends in her class. Before we had gone to the school, while we were eating she said, "I hope I don't cry on the first day!" I told her I was hoping not too! After seeing how excited she is now, I think she may make it just fine and without tears. Crossing my fingers, though! Checking out the daily schedule. Brynn's second grade classroom is
