Vegas Trip and Benjamin

Last weekend Daddy was away in Las Vegas with his friends for a bachelor party. So, we girls had a fun ladies' weekend. :-) Brynn and I started off with a movie on Friday night.

It was so hot on Saturday, but finally started cooling down later in the evening. And that's about what time it was in these pictures. Clara was eating supper late as she overslept on her afternoon nap!

Starting out pretty clean

The gang in Vegas. They had gone on an ATV excursion and that's where this was taken.

The tables have turned.

Ooh, this was so cute. Clara had gotten this little book from the Hope teachers at daycare. Brynn was reading it to her (which unfortunately none of those photos turned out for me - I was a little too slow by the time I got my camera out); then Clara had to read it to big sister next.

Our skipper landscaper. She cleans up the grass clippings after Daddy mows. I didn't realize she had been using her shovel. I thought she had been sweeping them up all these times. Our neighbor lady was doing some edging in her yard and had a whole clump of dirt and grass she was carrying in a shovel. Brynn was pleased with how much she had filled up her own bucket and I commented how much the neighbor lady had in her shovel, to which Brynn responded, "she's a good woman." Ha ha.

Tough work

We had a little house guest this week for a night's stay. Cousin Ben was in town getting his tonsils and adenoids removed. He did great and the surgery went well, thankfully. He and Brynn had a great time playing together. He is so hilarious and fun to have around.

We went up to visit him in the hospital and I think he was pretty tired by the time we made it up to see him that evening. He was quite the little trooper.

Brynn requested a picture next to this guy. I think his name is Alfonz or Alfie or something like that. I can't remember. This is just down the hallway from the NICU. It all still smelled so familiar.

Ha, she was showing me her grass clipping bucket outside. I didn't realize she had labored with that little shovel to get them all in there! Thanks for visiting Ben and hosting us!

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Christmas 2025/New Years 2026

Christmas gift wrapping shenanigans: Keeping Brynn company while she wraps all of our Christmas gifts. Brynn and I couldn't help but peek at the 150 Famous Poems book we gave to Clara. So many good ones. Getting into the holiday spirit at Courts Plus. Ha! Christmas eve brunch. Clara's gingerbread house contest strategy notes. Contestants were allowed 20 minutes to shop for their houses at Wal-mart. We left ourselves little time to get ready for the 3:00 Christmas eve service at our church. But, we made it and thankfully didn't have to sit in the overflow area in the chapel! It was a beautiful service. We had bit more time in between church and when we planned to leave for Tessa's, so I mixed up my eggnog and we got the car packed. Tessa's family hosted Christmas eve at their lake home. We had a great mix of people to play a game of Mind the Gap. Getting cookies ready for Santa. Clara got Dana and me up around 7:30 and we watched her open her stocking. I think Dana a...
