Lake Weekend

We had a fun weekend at Dead Lake with some of our friends we invited out with their kids. Brynn played really nicely with the littler kids even though she was quite a few years older than the rest. It was a pretty busy day, but we all had a good time.

Brynn scraped up the bottom of her foot pretty badly while swimming.

Brynn really took to this older neighbor guy, Russ. She went over to visit him any chance she got. I
never was really over there with her to know, but can only imagine how many questions she must have asked him. She and Grandpa went over to bring him some food on Saturday. She's still talking about him.

Clara and Chris drawing.

Brynn got to sleep with Grandpa

Watching Brynn's shows with the same 'tv watching face.' ;-)

Brynn soaking her sliced foot and drawing a picture of Sponge Bob.

At the end of the lake cabin road, up popped a book share library. Brynn found a fun craft book and then brought a couple of Grandma's books back to exchange. And she found a cribbage game, but left that in the little hut.

Had to stop for ice cream on the way home.

Brynn has a daily school assignment to read 20 minutes, so she decided to start in on "Charlotte's Web." She tried to tell me that she got halfway through the book in her 20 minutes. After some further discussion tonight on how unlikely that was and another talk about being truthful, she had to start back at the beginning.

Brynn disappeared for about an hour around supper time last night. Dana was outside working on the landscaping, so Clara and I just ate by ourselves, as Brynn was apparently too busy downstairs with her project to come up to eat when I told her supper was ready. Clara and I cleaned up and played a bit before we finally headed downstairs to see what Brynnie was up to so intently. She was quilting! It was pretty amazing. She got a hold of my sewing kit and with a needle and thread, hand-sewed her fabric scraps together. And even managed to sew a button on.

Showing Daddy. He was quite impressed.

While Brynn was playing Betsy Ross downstairs, Clara was upstairs and into shenanigans as usual. We had quesadillas and went she got our of her high chair, some fell to the floor which she promptly got into her clutches. Those scraps of quesadilla really had an adventure around the kitchen. First she stuck it in the dishwasher soap reservoir and then shut it, then she found her favorite little glass bowl in the cupboard and put them in there, ate a little more of it and then set it on the shelf in the cupboard. Silly girl.

She has really started to put objects in bowls and such now which is exciting to watch her develop more skills like that. She is standing more and more and for longer periods on her own, and only will take a couple of steps at a time. And she started blowing kisses now too. She loves the 'Five Little Monkeys' book and if she gets ready to read it, she also gets her finger out and ready for the 'no more monkeys jumping on the bed' parts. She loves the "Wheels on the Bus" song and knows some of the actions.

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Easter + April Birthdays

The girls had Thursday, Friday and Monday off from school for the Easter break. So, Dana and I took most of the same time off (work) to match.  Always reading. 💜 Hanging out with Brynn. 💗 Dana and I went on a Costco date. We tried our hand at homemade ravioli again. I think it went a bit more smoothly compared to last time. Hubert's sister Abby stopped by for a visit. We hadn't seen her in a long time and so it was fun to have her We celebrated Dana's birthday and kicked it off with some Sandy's donuts. I don't recall what was so funny. haha. Clara's card. Birthday King Clara dyed eggs. I baked a birthday cake for Dana, messed it up getting it out of the pans, and Clara somehow cobbled it together into a masterpiece. Dana chose Lucky 13's for dinner out. On Saturday we packed up to hit up Oliver's birthday party before we went on to Dead Lake for Easter. Oliver is 9! January + Valentine's Day + CATS!

We ARE still alive over here and have not frozen to death. Here's what we've been up to for the past month and a half! Brynn and Hubert at the OG (Olive Garden): 'Lady and the Tramp' style. haha. Taking in a Force game...with extra fighting. It was very exciting. One Sunday when Clara was at a sleepover, the three of us went to Black Coffee Waffle Bar after church and then for some crepes and boba at Tea & Crepe. Then Brynn and I went prom dress shopping which was really fun. She did find a dress she loves so that was a relief. This is not the one she chose, but she tried on quite a few nice ones. Clara made crowns for the king and I (me). Clara had to write an essay to be considered for the robotics team at school. She waited for at least a couple of weeks to learn if she was accepted, and unfortunately was not. She was pretty disappointed, but she does have a chance to reapply next year when she's a fifth grader, and won't have to write another essay. I th...
