Clara's Check-up and The Weekend

Last week one night we made it out for a bit after supper and Clara rode in the wagon for the first time. She really seemed to like it.

Auntie Christel came to visit this weekend and the girls had such a fun time playing with her.

Cheeser

We cannot keep Clara out of this rock pile in our backyard. The rocks are so tempting and tasty.

Brynn Skyping with Reagan last night.

Clara's new favorite thing to get into. She beelines it for the craft drawers every chance she gets and gets mad when you try to take her away. In fact we must always be telling her 'no,' because that seems to be what her first word is. She just started saying it this week. She has also gotten very good at proudly telling people how old she is now by holding up her finger for '1!'

She also had her one-year check-up on Friday. She checked out very well. She weighs 18 lbs which puts her in the 21st percentile for weight and her height is at 18th percentile. Still kind of a peanut, but with the way she shovels food in, that may not last long. :-)

When I was making Clara's smash cake for her birthday, I saved the leftover trimmed pieces of cake and frosting so Brynn could have some fun with it later. So, she was busy doing that this afternoon.

It sure was a nice night out this evening.

Brynn was so excited that she has mastered the monkey bars all by herself this weekend. She had to take Christel, Dana, Grandma Laurie and me to the park to show off her new skill.

Melissa's (Brynn's classmate and friend from first grade and school bus mate) sister happened to have her birthday party in the park today. They were surprised and happy to see each other so I had to snap a pic of them together. So cute.

Great pics! Just love those girls - so sweet. I'm still chuckling over Brynn's comment from yesterday! :)

More Graduations + Start of Summer

A couple of weekends ago Clara had a very busy, but fun Saturday with her friend Cora and her sister, Violet. The sisters' dad took them to the Breakfast on the Farm near Hawley (We had gone many years ago. Clara was so little, she didn't remember it.)   They also stopped at the dirt track races on their way back into town and then Dana met up with them at MSUM so they could go to the oceanarium there. We had never been before, but it was on our "Moorhead List" of fun things to do in the 56560 zip code. So, check! Out on side-by-side rides any chance we get. We parked on Sunset Road, as we've dubbed it, to watch the sun go down. There is usually one or two other cars parked on this low maintenance road whenever we venture down there. Clara into her granny hobbies. :-) We attended the last of this year's graduation parties over the weekend. I went to one in town on Friday night and then Clara and I stopped at Karlie's party near Fergus Falls on our way to Z...

Fourth of July 2025

We were able to spend the Fourth at Tamarac again this year, with my sister and her family.  We arrived just in time for Brynn to change into her tennis outfit for the boat parade float. Their theme was sports this year. Clara and Oliver caught candy from the dock. This was the first Fourth of July holiday spent at my sister and Chad's own cabin on the same lake that Chad's parents have their cabin. Clara brought my mom one of her favs, Tootsie Roll. We were also celebrating Mom's freedom this holiday...from working on the Fourth! For the past how many years, Mom has had to work the Fourth of July parade back home in Carrington. However, this year as she is preparing to retire and training in her replacement, she gave the parade reins to her successor. It was great to have both Mom and Dad spend the Fourth with all of us together. It was just like old times when we all gathered at Terry and Wanda's for lunch though. I made a new recipe for dessert: red, white and blue c...

Reagan Graduation + MDW + Tennis

This past weekend our oldest niece, Reagan, graduated high school. She will be attending UND for nursing in the fall. We're so proud of you and love you so much, Reagan!   Cousin Cayden had his Italian soda bar set up at the party which was super fun and a big hit. She opened a few gifts the night before her commencement. Reagan is the third generation to graduate from Harvey High as my mom and her dad, Chad also attended there. This was such a fun gift idea that Tessa put together from her and Chad. We got back home Sunday evening and between the four of us doing different things, spent most of Memorial Day outside. It was such beautiful weather. Brynn and I played tennis and Dana and Clara replaced some shrubs and did yardwork. The tennis season has wrapped up for Brynn now. She's sad to not be playing anymore, but still gets some court time between playing with friends and sometimes Clara and/or me. We're so proud of her and glad she played again this year. I had taken s...
